American Dental Hygienists' Association is Hiring a Senior Specialist, Digital Marketing & Communications Near Chicago, IL

The American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA) is seeking a marketing communications professional to join our team to support the development and execute the organization's marketing and communications strategies and programs across all digital platforms. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications.
ADHA is a non-profit membership organization for registered dental hygienists, that represents the needs of registered dental hygienists, dental hygiene students and the greater oral health care community in the United States through leadership, education, advocacy, and the value of belonging to a professional organization.

Job Summary: The Sr. Marketing Communications Specialist works together with the Director of Marketing and Communications to support, write, develop and deploying strategic stakeholder communications to members, educators, students, professional and industry partners, media, legislators and the public. The Sr. Specialist will work to increase visibility for the profession and the ADHA, positioning the organization as a thought leader and ensuring messaging reinforces the ADHA's mission, strategy and voice. This role will be a lead in supporting organization-wide initiatives, governance-related communications and scripts, media relations, social media strategy and operations, as well as content planning, development and dissemination via owned channels. He/she/they are an exceptional project manager with attention to detail, excellent writing and proofreading skills, highly organized, and a strong communicator. He/she/they are a motivated self-starter who is willing and able to roll up his/her/their sleeves and do what it takes to accomplish tasks autonomously in a fast-paced environment.

Position Location : Chicago, IL (hybrid or remote work available upon request)
Salary : $70,000 per year, dependent on qualifications
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute marketing communications plans, content generation and editing across departments through digital channels (social media, email, web, text) to increase awareness, engagement, reach and following of ADHA messaging, programs and offerings.
  • Execute the association-wide social media strategy through content development, calendar curation, copywriting, deployment and reporting via Hootsuite to ensure strategic, timely and balanced communications.
  • Create or lead written and some visual content (Canva or Adobe Suite) and implement via regular member digital communications (social media, email and website) which requires coordination with subject-matter experts across the organization, leadership and membership volunteers, curating and publishing editorial content.
  • Write, build, and schedule monthly external newsletters, and other email campaigns as needed (via Informz) and curate the organization-wide email calendar.
  • Collaborate with external marketing communications agency to develop the assets necessary for deployment of marketing and communications plans and tactics.
  • Represent the professional voice of ADHA in redirecting or responding to member, partner and media inquiries via phone, social media, email and web.
  • Provide support for governance-related activities and communications which may include board elections; website updates, message development and speech writing; presentations for presidents and board members; development of annual report and board meeting highlights for board report to stakeholders and website publication.
  • Support implementation of conferences and events through promotional and strategic messaging and copy, script development and editing, presentation development, video communication, and on-site coordination, speaker support and social media storytelling at live event.
  • Coordinate internal efforts to execute press or research releases and media outreach to reach target external audiences as needed.
  • Cultivate partnerships with internal colleagues as your clients to develop, coordinate, direct, and facilitate strategic communications.
  • Develop, implement and track metrics to assess the effectiveness and impact of communications and follower growth.
  • Review and proof necessary marketing and communications copy and assets to ensure they are error-free and meet style guide standards (AP and ADHA brand guidelines).
  • Assist Director of Marketing and Communications in the development and execution of association-wide content strategy.
Education and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field.
  • 5 years' experience in marketing communications.
  • Member-based association experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and proven experience with third-party email marketing automation platform software (Informz/Higher Logic/Marketo/Eloqua or similar software).
  • Proficient in social media development and deployment via Hootsuite or similar social media management system.
  • Familiarity with AP Style and resourcefulness to find answers.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent copywriting, proofreading and editing skills are a must. Attention to detail is required and essential to this member, customer and market-facing role.
  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, verbal, listening, and presentation skills.
  • In-depth, hands-on experience with social media networks, platforms and their use within multi-audience communications programs.
  • Interpersonal communication, relationship-building skills, emotional intelligence and responsiveness is paramount in this remote position to effectively and virtually establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues, leadership, volunteers, vendors and the media.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize, project manage and report on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to adjust writing style to target audiences while following style standards and guidelines.
  • Overnight travel to annual conference and other events as needed (up to 5%)
