Job Location: BARRY ROBINSON CENTER - NORFOLK, VA
Salary Range: $15.00 - $16.50 Hourly

Description

We’re a residential treatment program serving adolescents, all of whom have a military connection. Our program is growing, and we’re looking to hire additional team members! The purpose of the Residential Coach position is to provide direct care supervision/welfare of clients while ensuring safety and protection of their human rights in accordance with agency policies and procedures. This involves building therapeutic relationships with the residents and being involved in their programming and treatment goals. We also offer a career ladder for this position, therefore you have the opportunity to grow as a leader within this industry! 

Duties include but are not limited to build trusting and therapeutic relationships with clients in order to facilitate the client's motivation/ability to change and to trust that the Treatment Plan is desirable and productive using caring and consistent social interactions. Monitor, supervise, guide clients to ensure safety, support and behavioral management, and accurately document clients' behavior to communicate clients' behavior, staff interventions and outcomes

We have remarkable outcomes with our residents and operate with a 4:1 staff to resident ratio. We offer extensive programming including life-skills, soft skills, recreational therapy, group therapy and fun outings too! We offer CPR and First Aide training and have a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees. 

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Human Services; or Associates degree in Human Services and a minimum of 6 months experience working with youth/adolescents; or High School Diploma will be considered when combined with a minimum of 1 year experience working with youth/adolescents, preferrably in a mental health setting. 

Ideal candidate has a Bachelors degree in Human Services with six or more months experience working with children/adolescents in a mental health setting. 

FULL-TIME EMPLOYEMENT SCHEDULE OPTIONS: 

Traditional Schedule: Scheduled shifts throughout the week, includes every other weekend

-Weekday Evening shift: 2:30pm-11:00pm (evening differential each hour worked)

-Scheduled every other weekend: alternates each week between day shift (7:00 am -2:30 pm) and evening shift (2:30 pm - 11:00 pm) (weekend differential each hour worked)

OR

Set Weekend Schedule: Every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday (Off every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday)

- Friday/Monday: 2:30 pm- 11:00 pm (evening differential each hour worked)

-Saturdays & Sundays: alternates each week between day shift (7:00 am -2:30 pm) and evening shift (2:30 pm - 11:00 pm) (weekend differential each hour worked)

OR

Overnight Shift: follows Traditional Schedule with differing (overnight) hours

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Human Services; or Associates degree and 3 months experience working with children; or High school graduate or GED certificate and have 6 months experience working with children. (Bachelors degree in Human Services with 6 months experience working with children/adolescents in a mental health setting is preferred.)
