Jacobs is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide exceptional engineering, construction services to join our team in Fort Campbell, KY and support services to the mission at the Fort Campbell Home of the 101st Airborne. In this role, you'll provide site engineering support to our client, the US Army for the Fort Campbell Water – Water and Wastewater Utility Privatization Project. You'll provide onsite support on projects including water treatment and distribution, wastewater treatment and collection, tertiary treatment and irrigation conveyance system, administrative, storage and maintenance facilities.

Our Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for:

• Administration of onsite mapping and work directly with the offsite GIS coordinator to ensure that water and sewer mapping remain current
• Providing project oversight on connection projects related to water, wastewater, and distribution and collection systems
• Serve as point-of-contact for water and wastewater master planning activities on the base; and coordinate the water and wastewater master plan with overall base master plan
• Assist the Operations and Maintenance staff of water, wastewater, and distribution system with engineering services required to address problems observed
• Assist in conducting cross-connection control surveys and propose solutions when cross-connections arise.
• Assist the Project’s Health and Safety Representative in reviewing pertinent health and safety documentation during evaluation of hiring potential subcontractors and help oversee their safety performance once hired.

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil or Mechanical)
• Three (3) years of experience of engineering support on projects 
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with no major infractions

Ideally, You'll also have:

• PE License or ability to obtain a PE license within 5 years of hire
• Able to obtain a water/wastewater operator certification Grade III within 2 years of hire
• Experience of engineering support on projects related to the operation and maintenance of a water/wastewater treatment facility, and irrigation, collection and distribution systems
• Working knowledge of military structure and installation-level organizations, especially Army
• Understanding of the technical aspects of the utility systems to be supported, including specific treatment processes in operation or planned (EDR and RO)

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

The work area can involve a working environment indoors, as well as, outdoors which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. Safety is of the utmost importance. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact. 
 
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination when preparing reports and using a computer keyboard, have vision sufficient to read computer screens, printed documents and operate office equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour time period must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, wear and use appropriate safety equipment.
