Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute is Hiring a Certified Athletic Trainer - San Marco Rehab Near Jacksonville, FL

JOI has an immediate opening for PART TIME – 30 hours/week, Certified Athletic Trainer position to work at the San Marco Rehab office within the high school outreach program. The ATC performs athletic training services within the clinic and outreach settings.
Schedule: This position requires applicant to be flexible and be available on some nights and Saturdays
This position is eligible for health, dental, vision, STD, Life Insurance, PTO, 401K plan, Incentive Bonus, Profit Sharing, mileage reimbursement, professional liability insurance, and CEU allowance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Physical Therapist, administer rehabilitation treatments as allowed by local and state law.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Report any non-operative equipment to Administrator/Site Coordinator.
  • Participate in all clinical in-service activities and committee activities as assigned.
  • Participate in departmental and interdepartmental education programs as requested by the Sports Medicine Director, at least annually.
  • Assist the Sports Medicine Director/Administrator/Site Coordinator with but not limited to Quality Assurance, Utilization Review, Program Evaluation, Infection Control and Safety Committee activities.
  • Serves as a liaison with athletes, parents, physicians, coaches, and clinical professional staff.
  • Cover community events, school athletic events, or school practices as assigned.
  • Communicate, cooperate, and give assistance in a prompt and courteous manner to patients, high school associates and athletes, co-workers, and medical staff to ensure “client satisfaction” with the service of the Sports Medicine Department.
  • Provide athletic injury evaluation, immediate care, and assist with the referral of injured athletes in accordance with generally accepted principles of athletic training services at the school or venue where they are present.
  • Orient new employees and volunteers as directed by the Sports Medicine Director.
  • Supervise athletic training students with generally accepted principles of athletic training services at the school or venue where they are present.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the center.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Assist Sports Medicine Director/Administrator/Site Coordinator as needed.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Successful completion of athletic training curriculum with in a CAATE approved program.
  • Must be certified or eligible for certification by the Board of Certification (BOC).
  • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the State of Florida Board of Certification.
  • Experience with recognition, evaluation, and immediate care of athletic injuries.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate an athlete’s progress through various stages of rehabilitation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety practices, including safe operation of athletic training equipment.
  • Ability to perform the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment, (including first aide) and reconditioning.
  • Ability to instruct athlete in therapeutic exercise, and strength and conditioning programs.
  • Ability to demonstrate proper taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting of athletic equipment.
  • Ability to perform duties in an efficient and independent manner with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to adjust and adapt to changing work schedules.
Working Conditions
Fast paced orthopedic rehabilitation clinic. May work outdoors when working at athletic fields, sporting events, practices, or job sites. Sometimes may work in hot or cold temperatures, depending on weather.
Physical Demands
Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift, bend, walk, kneel, stretch, and stoop. Requires eye hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires normal hearing and eyesight to allow for patient/athlete interaction and processing of patient/athlete information.
JOI staff is required to complete their COVID-19 vaccine series or obtain a medical or religious exemption by 11/15/2021 or at the time of hire after this date.
