This role is responsible for the safety, production, quality, and financial performance of a growing food manufacturing facility. You will oversee the production, materials/ warehousing, maintenance, sanitation, and quality functions. The primary expectations include maximizing productivity and food quality while driving lower operating costs through standard operating systems and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate must have a strong focus on cultivating a culture of employee engagement, connectivity, and ownership.Pay: $110,000 - $150,000/yr. What will I do as the Plant Manager - Food Manufacturing?Oversee all aspects of daily operations putting a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and efficiency.Oversee a diverse group of supervisors by managing performance, setting goals, and leading strategy. Develop ,execute, and implement plans to improve operations.Manage KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) in relation to production, budgets, and resources.Partner in recruiting, training, and supervising employees.Act as a mentor developing members of the supervisor team and fosters an environment where they can grow.Set and communicate clear expectations for the Capitol Kitchen team and hold team members accountable.Possess a deep knowledge of operations, product flow, and SOPs. Utilizes this knowledge to teach and coach employees towards continuous improvement.Participate in CapEx (capital expenditures) for equipment planning and maintenance.Embrace and enforce organizational procedures and policies.Coordinate and communicate effectively with the Capitol Distribution team on all aspects of Operations, Scheduling, Procurement, and any interdependencies related to the daily manufacturing.Collaborate with Jacksons Food Stores (JFS) on product development and new item innovation.Work closely with JFS Category Managers to optimize assortment and strategies for new item/product development.Evaluate ‘Make vs Buy’ opportunities, to optimize the manufacturing facility.Manage all raw materials procurement to make sure the correct items are selected and procured and at the correct cost.Manage all recipes, job aides, reference guides, nutritional information.Responsible for Food Safety, QA processes, managing our USDA & FDA requirements, physical checks, and any other related/relevant testing done to ensure optimal product to the end consumer.Achieve production goals and operational targets as developed in the planning process.Maintain relationships with vendors and participates in external audits. Other duties as assigned.You will be a great fit if you have:A Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.7 years of plant management level experience.USDA, FDA or 3rd Party audit experience required.HACCP and PCQI certification or experience preferred.Bilingual in Spanish is preferredA detailed knowledge of plant and manufacturing operations is key with food manufacturing preferredStrong attention to detail with effective critical thinking skillsEffective interpersonal and oral communication skillsAn ability to effectively set and communicate expectations & directives to a large manufacturing staff.Proficiency in technology skills with applications, especially in Microsoft Suite. The ability to work onsite and provide direct supervision. A history of being results driven, analytical, self-motivated and detail oriented with the ability to logically identify alternative solutions or approaches to complex problems. Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, and twist; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. This position will be exposed to a standard office environment as well as manufacturing and storage areas. Environmental conditions include heat, cold, allergens, noise, fume/chemical/odor exposure from gasoline and cleaning chemicals.
