GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

We are very proud of our Deli Department here at Jack’s. We know the value our customer place on a home-cooked meal, and when life gets busy, they can count on us to step up and provide great “to-go” meals for their families. Our Deli Associates are trained on everything from crafting café sandwiches and slicing specialty meats & cheeses, to frying chicken and preparing salads for our service case. This position involves maintaining a positive, adaptive attitude and working as a team to achieve all department goals.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Deli Associates assist guests with finding items they are looking for on or off the sales floor.

· Watches over service case for quality control, rotation of product, and keeps ample supplies available

· Makes sure products are rotated, using first in first out method, checking for quality control

· Takes orders and other special requests

· Answers the telephone and assists guests using proper phone etiquette

· Addresses guest concerns and resolves issues when a guest is not satisfied with the service or product received, if in need further assistance, bring concern to Deli Manager

· Makes sure case and everything around it is clean and tidy; no messes or spills

· Fill cupboards with containers, lids, spoons, tags, etc.

· Maintain food safety logs of product temperatures

· Other duties as assigned including food preparation upon training and relevant experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School Education or equivalent combination of education and experience are required.

· Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers, using excellent oral and written communication

· Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to handle a diverse crew in a highly stressful environment

· Complete understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies

· Must possess the ability to apply on-the-job safety training to recognize and react to possible safety hazards on store premises. Also requires proper training and knowledge of the following equipment/procedures: slicers, proper lifting techniques, trash compactor, and baler

· Knowledge of the retail food business, thorough knowledge of perishable department operations, merchandising skills, and must be able to make timely and effective decisions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

These skills must be met by Deli Associates to perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

· Must be able to stand in place for long periods of time; bend, stoop, and kneel regularly. Requires fine finger and broad manual dexterity, and eye-hand-foot coordination in order to operate equipment.

· Must have full range of upper body motion in order to lift stock. Requires the ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.

· Ability to lift 50 lbs in a routine fashion

· May be exposed to extreme temperatures
