Job Description

HUMAN RESOURCES BUSINESS PARTNER

At Jack’s, we nurture our culture – to us, it is all about family. The HR Business Partner is responsible for dedicated HR support within a given territory to foster our positive culture and deliver effective HR programs. Reporting to the HR Director, the role incumbent will drive effective Human Resources tactics, processes and programs in support of employee relations, recruiting, retention, engagement and talent. This role will support 60-70 restaurant locations and require you to be in the field approximately 75% of the time.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure best-in-class store-level selection and on-boarding program execution to drive engagement and retention
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise by ensuring compliance to mandatory federal and local labor laws and regulations; “go-to” expert on employee relations
  • Provide counsel to operators on employee relations matters and team dynamics to promote a people first culture 
  • Conduct investigations of a complex nature (sexual harassment, discrimination, hour and wage, EEO) prepare investigation documentation
  • Assists with critical incidents, ensuring smooth, professional and timely follow through
  • Coach for performance and increased service levels to ensure execution is aligned with Jack’s mission, culture and values; act as an advocate of the employee/manager relationship to increase engagement and retention
  • Build a strong and collaborative partnership with the Operations team to achieve goals for talent planning and development, staffing levels, retention and engagement questioning existing practices and proposing new solutions
  • Drive, lead, execute and follow up on Region’s talent planning activities and action plans
  • Play a pivotal role in local recruiting activities - use data to drive the execution of recruiting best practices and action plans - partner with HR Director to develop and execute regional staffing plans and ensure both an internal and external pipeline of candidates both for existing and new restaurants
  • Analyze and leverage people metrics to understand local turnover trends & work with leaders to find solutions
  • Champion the Team Member experience and elevate field leadership through coaching of engagement survey and exit interview results
  • Conducting effective field visits to diagnose gaps in retention & offer actionable solutions
  • Partner with Operations Training Manager to deliver and facilitate HR-related training sessions 

Position Qualifications/Functional Skills:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to respond to business needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships across; ability to influence
  • Adept at critical thinking and dealing with the ambiguous
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure when dealing with complex employee relations cases or responding to critical situations
  • Keen on maintaining a high degree of confidentiality
  • Accountability for decisions, actions, behavior and results
  • Ability to work independently within deadlines
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow up skills
  • Self-motivated; action and results-oriented; able to multi-task
  • Demonstrate a passion for “being in the know” by having a strong presence in the field
  • Exhibits servant leadership – offer a high level of internal customer service

Education, Experience, and Certifications:

  • A minimum of five years of progressive Human Resource Field Management experience in a multi-unit restaurant or retail experience environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
  • Advanced knowledge of Federal, State and Local legislation and Labor Laws
  • Experience with program management a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
