Job Opening Full- Time 2024-2025 Academic School Year Arts and Ceramics Teacher

Mullen High School is seeking to hire an energetic committed individual to serve as an Arts and Ceramics Teacher. This is a full- time, at- will opening for the 2024- 2025 School Year.

Position Overview

Mullen High School is seeking to hire a faith-filled, energetic, dedicated Arts and Ceramics Teacher to join our dynamic faculty. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in visual arts, with expertise in ceramics and a commitment to fostering creativity and artistic expression among high school students. The applicant would be expected to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The applicant must be able to plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences, establish, and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. The ideal candidate will be an integral member of Mullen’s Art Department and embrace the opportunity to be a role model to students not only in their academic development, but also in their faith and personal development as well. As Lasallian and Catholic educators, we work to inspire our students academically, spiritually, and emotionally equally and anticipate that teachers who wish to join our staff look forward to this critical part of our work.

This is a full- time, at- will, position for the 2024-2025 school year. Compensation from $45,000- $75,000 depending on years of experience and education.

Mullen reserves the right to pay more or less than the range.

Essential Job Functions Catholic and Lasallian Identity

● Understands, emphasizes, and always supports the Lasallian and Catholic nature of the school and through all responsibilities and programs.

● Models the role of teacher to promote student behavior that is supportive, and conducive to the implementation of the school’s instructional programs and goals.

● Exemplifies and upholds the expectations and actions of Lasallian professionalism among all faculty. Teacher

● Develop and implement an engaging curriculum for high school visual arts classes, with a focus on ceramics.

● Teach fundamental principles and techniques of ceramics, including hand-building, wheel-throwing, glazing, and firing.

● Provide instruction in various artistic mediums, such as drawing, painting, and sculpture, to ensure a well-rounded arts education for students.

● Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to explore their creativity and express themselves artistically.

● Facilitate meaningful discussions and critiques to help students develop their artistic skills and aesthetic sensibilities.

● Organize and supervise hands-on art projects and studio sessions, ensuring proper use of equipment and adherence to safety protocols.

● Collaborate with colleagues to integrate arts education across the curriculum and participate in interdisciplinary projects and initiatives.

● Assess student learning through a variety of methods, including portfolios, presentations, and written assignments, and provide constructive feedback to support their growth as artists.

● Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues to discuss student progress, upcoming projects, and other relevant matters.

● Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in arts education and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the visual arts program at Mullen High School.

Qualifications

● Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts or equivalent knowledge/experience.

● Demonstrated interest, commitment, and ability to work with students of varied academic levels and interests.

● Strong commitment and desire to work with youth and adults in a collaborative environment.

● Enjoy the challenge of implementing new teaching methods and educational tools in an ever changing and strategic environment.

● Ability to utilize technology and integrate the use of technology to instruct and provide feedback on student's performance and development.

● Life-long learner, optimistic, flexible, and passionate about helping all students reach their potential.

● Open to change and possess skills that promote student achievement and growth. Experience

● Minimum of two (2) years successful teaching experience preferred.

● Prior experience of teaching high school, preferably Ceramics courses preferred.
