Ivy Tech Community College is Hiring an Adjunct - Biotechnology Near Bloomington, IN

Ivy Tech Bloomington is searching for a part time Biotechnology adjunct faculty to teach BIOT 105 - Survey of Regulatory Affairs this upcoming March 8 week session.
Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.
Adjuncts make $46.50 per contact and adjuncts can teach between 1-12 contact hours per week. Applicants should attach resume, and unofficial transcripts showing minimum qualifications.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with
  • Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on
    engaging students with their learning (curricular).
  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety
    procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
A qualified faculty member in Biotechnology meets all three of the following criteria:
Possesses an earned master’s or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, microbiology, or a related field; and Completed 18 graduate semester hours in cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, and/or microbiology; and Has two or more years of experience in the field.
BIOT 105 Course Standard:
A qualified faculty member teaching BIOT 105:
Meets the Biotechnology program standard listed above.
OR
Possesses an earned bachelor’s or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in life sciences or chemistry, and Has 5 or more years relevant industry experience as a scientist, production manager or equivalent position.
OR
Possesses an earned bachelor’s or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in life sciences or chemistry, and Has completed a faculty credentialing workshop hosted by Ivy Tech. Ivy Tech faculty teaching the workshop must have taught the course for Ivy Tech at least three times prior to running such a workshop.
OR
Possesses an earned bachelor’s or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in life sciences or chemistry, and Has an appropriate certification that includes completing the three approved classes in the Pathway for Patient Health Quality Science Education (Global Regulatory and Legal Requirements of Quality, Product Development and Validation, Risk and Failure Analysis).
