Purchasing Specialist Location: Somerset, New Jersey

Purpose

The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for external supplier management related to the sourcing of raw and packaging materials to support continued production operations at Ivoclar Vivadent Manufacturing, Inc (IVMI). The Purchasing Specialist will lead or support Local Sourcing engagements in alignment with Global Procurement strategies, build supplier relationships with existing and new suppliers, and support the Supplier Qualification and Supplier Monitoring process in alignment with our operating procedures. This role will be accountable for Purchasing key performance indicators (KPIs), including purchasing spend, purchase price variance (PPV), and supplier on-time delivery.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead / support local Sourcing engagements in alignment with Global Procurement strategies.
• Manage the Request-for-Information (RFI) / Request-for-Quote (RFQ) and vendor selection process.
• Lead / support the Supplier Qualification process with the local Quality Management team.
• Manage the Supplier on-boarding process with the Local Site cross-functional team and the Global Procurement corporate team.

• Lead the process to negotiate best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements.
• Collaborate with Legal department in the development of a new Supply Agreement or the renewal of an existing contract. Support the Quality department implementing new or updated Quality Agreements (as needed).

• Lead cost / price savings projects with external suppliers.
• Lead and manage Supplier Monitoring and report Supplier performance metric results (On-Time Delivery. Purchase Price Variance)
• Provide an accounting of external supplier spend compared to budgeted spend.
• Develop and implement process improvements or strategies for suppliers not meeting performance expectations.
• Support the change management process related to packaging or raw material changes for externally sourced items.
• Support production site by placing purchase orders with equipment, service, and/or production material suppliers consistent with the purchase requisition and agreed supplier lead-times.
• Reconcile discrepancies between purchase order receipt and supplier invoices (as needed).
• Set up new vendors in SAP as needed. Manage vendor Master Data requirements in alignment with the Production Planning team.
• Support Global Procurement initiatives, as required.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years purchasing experience with strong business acumen.
• Ability to work effectively with external partners with focus on relationship building.
• Experience with ERP system, SAP preferred.
• Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and time manage workload.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work effectively with employees from all levels of the company.
• Software skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

Physical Demands

Some occasional light lifting. Ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. Occasionally required to stand, move about inside the office area. Frequently communicates with employees of all levels as well as outside vendors. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
