IVANS Insurance Solutions is Hiring a Sr. Associate Product Manager Near Canada, KY

Job Overview

Applied Systems Canada, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Sr Associate Product Manager for Personal Lines to join our Agile software development team and help us explore, invent, develop, and deliver consumer-facing broker products as well as broker-utilized business products. In this role, you will act as a strong advocate for end users and customers with the goal of delivering substantially useful functionality to make insurance work better. Working with the guidance of our Product Management, you will lead the definition of clear requirements and user stories to bring our (and your!) product vision down to earth for execution. You will strive to deliver high-quality software products on time to market, in alignment with strategic goals while meeting the needs of our clients. The successful candidate will be joining the Online Rating team focusing on our Online Rating products.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with Product Management to establish a product release vision and communicate that vision to frame requirements with scrum teammates.
  • Lead your project through to completion, managing discovery and scope changes along the way.
  • Create, maintain, and continuously prioritize product and/or release backlogs, and conduct backlog refinement sessions with the respective scrum team.
  • Work with peer Product Managers regarding cross-team dependencies and appropriate scheduling and prioritization of dependent work.
  • Facilitate or participate in all relevant sprint meetings, including daily meetings, sprint planning, refinement, review, and retrospective sessions.
  • Coordinate with our other teams (User Experience, Software Engineering, Customer Support, etc.) regarding your project or feature set.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to define business requirements that maximize the value in the product.
  • Elicit customer requirements using interviews, workflow analysis, and requirements workshops.
  • Define acceptance criteria and perform user acceptance testing to validate that solutions meet the users’ needs.
  • Review and assess completed projects and apply findings to product improvements. Establish metrics to measure effectiveness and drive improvements.
  • Work with technical experts and customers to continually build and improve understanding of the target market and user base to serve as a product expert in the relevant product domain(s) and drive smarter product decisions. Identify, analyze, and present opportunities for assigned product area(s). 
  • Establish key product/feature measurements, utilize usage data and analytics to monitor product utility, validate usage assumptions, and uncover trends to continuously refine and improve offerings.
  • Participate within the client proposal process, collaborating on the development of proposal documents and project scope statements including time estimates, solution design, and risk analysis.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

 What You’ll Need to Succeed

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Can work remotely or from an Applied Systems office
  • Ability to travel

Your experience should include some or all of the following:

  • 3 years of Product Owner or Business Analyst experience, working with a development team to establish requirements and meet deadlines
  • Personal Lines insurance experience preferred
  • Experience working with APIs
  • Exceptional communication skills (spoken and written) and an ability to navigate a complex, cross-functional environment
  • Relentless customer focus, experience gathering requirements, and contributing to product vision
  • Familiarity with general release plan and execution tasks
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in the areas of Information Science, Computer Science, or related disciplines

Additionally, you may have:

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent certification
  • Experience working in the insurance industry, insurance agency/brokerage, or experience with insurance software products
  • Experience with Agile project management tools, such as JIRA and Confluence
