The Shift Coordinator in the Multispecialty Surgical Oncology Unit (3N) manages clinical outcomes, cost, customer satisfaction and administrative efforts in a daily care assignment and in the operations of the unit. A Shift Coordinator on this unit will coordinate care and administration support for a patient population of high acuity patients of all ages within their department. This individual will serve as the clinical expert to assigned staff and is a strong unit leader and performs unit and system leadership activities as necessary. The Shift Coordinator will create an environment that enables a highly engaged team to deliver a high-quality, person-centered care.
This Multispecialty Surgical Oncology Unit (3N) manages ostomies, complex wound care, opioid-sparing pain management, bedside procedures. The Nurses on this unit are trained in pain management, management of therapeutic specialty beds, hemodynamic monitoring, and are also trained in the insertion of small-bore feeding tubes and bowel management devices.
The Multispecialty Surgical Oncology unit is a fast-paced environment and provides excellent team collaboration where we patients and families of the illness while building professional relationships.
Qualifications/knowledge/skills/abilities
• Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) required for those newly hired or promoted into the position after May 1, 2023
• Masters of Nursing preferred
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA
• Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
