DescriptionSenior Machine Vision Systems EngineerJob Type: Fixed Term – 12 MonthsLocation: Galway - OnsiteThe Role As a Senior Machine Vision Systems Engineer, you will develop internal capabilities to assess, design and install automated inspection by means of Machine Vision, Image Processing, and ML technologies. This involves performing research initiatives as well as developing innovative production solutions. Build collaborative relationships through strong teamwork across the organisation. You will support existing manufacturing equipment to investigate issues related to machine vision and mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers on vision system development and hardware selection, whilst leading the technical design and development of projects which are primarily Machine Vision solutions.Key responsibilities: Provide technical leadership to designing the overall architecture of the computer vision system to meet specific requirements and objectives. This includes selecting appropriate hardware components and software tools.Readily accept ownership, accountability, and responsibility with a proven track record in delivering effective solutions from concept to implementation at pace.Provide strong leadership and problem solving to enable equipment technology innovation.Determine Project schedules and works with team and other departments across the plant to ensure adherence. Complete project deliverables and monitor project schedule and scope changes to assure the project can meet delivery requirements.Provide support for Vision Hardware and Software control systems for production machines. This may involve software development using Cognex Insight, Vision Pro or Keyence XG platforms and a range of languages such as C#, VB or C/C and communication to off camera systems such as Machine control PLC or PC.Develop algorithms and techniques for processing and analysing images and videos. This may involve tasks such as image emulation, image processing, metrology, feature extraction, data acquisition and pass / fail simulation, OCR, and object recognition.Develop and enhances cross-functional team relationships and works cross-functionally to identify and resolve technical and organizational issues.Support site efforts in Implementing machine learning models for tasks like object detection, classification, and tracking. Support the design of the overall architecture of the computer vision system to meet specific requirements and objectives.Selecting appropriate hardware components and software tools.Write code and software to implement the vision algorithms, control hardware components, and interface with other systems and software in the application.Manage the storage and retrieval of large volumes of image and video data, including data pre-processing and organisation.Identify and implement performance optimisations to ensure that the vision system meets speed and efficiency requirements.Continuously collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to integrate the vision systems with larger systems or platforms, such as robotic control systems or industrial automation systems.Conduct rigorous testing, validation, and benchmarking to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the vision system's output.Provide ongoing maintenance and support to ensure the continued functionality and performance of the vision systems.Stays up to date with the latest advancements in computer vision, machine learning, and related technologies to enhance the system's capabilities.
