Description
The Swim Lesson Instructor is responsible for maintaining safety within and instructing aquatic classes.
Qualifications:
The Swim Lesson Instructor must be at least 15 years of age, must obtain a work permit if under the age of 16 years old. Experience of the Itasca Park District Instructional program and good knowledge of swimming and instructional techniques is preferred. Ability to lead swim classes, identify need for improvement in swimming techniques and give necessary instruction for correct technique. Must have current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification before the first day of work.
Hours:
The Swim Lesson Instructor is a part-time position between 4-10 hours per week. This includes weekday morning and evening lessons, as well as private lessons assigned by the coordinator.

Be responsible for other duties as deemed appropriate by the Pool Manger or the Aquatics Supervisor.
Required Knowledge:
The Swim Lesson Instructor works closely with the public. They must work under supervision and direction of supervisors. The Swim Lesson Instructor may have to work under stressful situations when first aid and CPR are required.
Required Competencies:
The Swim Lesson Instructor must be able to follow instruction from supervisors and co-workers. The Swim Lesson Instructor must be able to communicate to parents and other co-workers. They must be safety conscientious and use good judgment at all times.
Physical Demands & Environmental Conditions:
The Swim Lesson Instructor works in a climate of direct sun and high humidity. Must be able to swim 200 yards and lift up to 30 pounds. The Swim Lesson Instructor may be exposed to the weather conditions, which can include cold, rain, and extreme heat.
