POSITION SUMMARY:

Island Pacific Academy is seeking a dynamic and innovative full-time Environmental Science/Chemistry/AP Chemistry Teacher to join our secondary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for science education, a strong background in environmental science and chemistry, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment that aligns with IPA’s core values.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach Environmental Science, Chemistry, and AP Chemistry, integrating environmental science principles into the curriculum, following IPA’s established guidelines and standards.
• Incorporate STEAM related curriculum to provide connections between Design Thinking and Science.
• Develop and implement engaging and innovative science lesson plans that incorporate hands-on learning experiences.
• Assess student learning and progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
• Support students in their understanding of environmental science concepts, chemistry, and laboratory work.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate environmental science and chemistry principles into various subject areas and promote interdisciplinary learning.
• Mentor students as they engage in science projects, providing guidance and support.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational trends and practices in environmental science, chemistry, and AP Chemistry.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

• Bachelor’s degree in science education, with a focus on environmental science or chemistry (Preferred, not required), or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Teaching certification or licensure in science is preferred.
• Experience teaching middle school science, preferably in a project-based learning environment.
• Strong knowledge of science curriculum standards and best practices in science education.
• Experience with and/or willingness to learn and implement environmental science and chemistry principles.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

SALARY REQUIREMENTS:

• $45,000 to $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications
