Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Medical Receptionist to join our team at a dual practice specializing in internal medicine and occupational medicine. The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational and communication skills, along with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answering Phones:
- Manage incoming calls promptly and professionally.
- Provide information, schedule appointments, and route calls to appropriate staff members.
- Maintain phone log and relay messages accurately and efficiently.
- Check-In:
- Greet patients warmly as they arrive.
- Verify patient information and insurance details.
- Direct patients to appropriate waiting areas.
- Using EMR:
- Navigate electronic medical records system proficiently.
- Input and update patient information accurately.
- Retrieve and disseminate patient records as needed.
- Accurately scan and upload patient records into EMR.
- Insurance Verification:
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility.
- Communicate insurance details to patients and providers.
- Taking Payments:
- Collect co-payments and outstanding balances.
- Process payments accurately and efficiently.
- Provide receipts and maintain payment records.
- Check-Out:
- Review and update patient records post-appointment.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and procedures.
- Provide patients with necessary documentation and instructions.
- Scheduling Appointments:
- Manage appointment scheduling for physicians.
- Coordinate with patients to schedule appointments that accommodate their needs.
- Scheduling Sonograms:
- Coordinate sonogram appointments for patients.
- Ensure availability of necessary resources and equipment.
- Communicate appointment details and preparation instructions to patients.
- Referrals/Prior Authorizations:
- Assist patients with obtaining referrals/prior authorizations for specialist visits or additional services.
- Coordinate referral/prior authorization documentation and communication between providers/insurance companies/patients
- Document referral/authorization status and follow up as necessary.
- Money Reconcilement:
- Reconcile daily financial transactions accurately.
- Balance cash drawers and prepare bank deposits.
- Maintain financial records in compliance with organizational policies.
- Optional Additional Per Diem Opportunities
- Traveling throughout Long Island to perform fire department physicals
- Generally, weekend mornings with occasional weeknight evenings

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR systems and basic computer skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
