Island Nursing Rehab Center is Hiring a Medicaid coordinator Near Holtsville, NY

We are a 120-bed not-for-profit nursing facility offering advanced healthcare while providing skilled nursing and rehabilitative services for both long and short term residents.

Located on eight beautiful landscaped acres, we also provide sub-acute services, wound care and respite services.

We are currently seeking a Medicaid Cordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Experience and knowledge of processing medicaid application, with all aspects of community and chronic care Medicaid required.

Ability to generate new Medicaid applications, chronic care conversions and recertifications. Minimum of two (2) years experience in long term care setting required.

Associates degree or 1-2 years additional course work in accounting-bookkeeping is highly desirable. A high school diploma or equivalency required.

Must have strong computer skills. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and insurance required.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES :

Assure patients and residents eligible for Medicaid have active and billable cases. Coordinate the activities of the finance department to insure prompt and accurate billing for patient services rendered in the facility.

Provide accurate financial information to resident and resident sponsor regarding Medicaid budgeting and documentation requirements.

Assist in collection of resident net amount monthly income (NAMI.)

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

Interview prospective patient / resident and verify paysources.

Clearly explain criteria for Medicaid eligibility to patients, residents and sponsors.

Obtain documentation required for community Medicaid conversion to chronic care.

Obtain documentation required for new Medicaid applications and prepare application.

Maintain working relationship with local Department of Social Service agencies.

Process all notification paperwork required by local DSS.

Prepare Medicaid pickup letters.

Maintain accurate patient demographic and financial information in facility software.

Assist families with questions regarding Medicare, Medicaid and insurance procedures.

Assist patient / resident / guarantor with direct deposit applications, change of address and representative payee applications.

Meet with patient / guarantor to explain and collect balances.

Prioritize workload according to required time limits.

Answer telephone and provide information when applicable.

Maintain various statistics on Excel.

Exercise proper judgment; follow lines of communication within the framework of professional principles.

Must possess a sincere desire to serve clients.

Demonstrate knowledge, respect and sensitivity to resident’s rights as identified within the Resident Bill of Rights and facility policy and mission statement.

Assure confidentiality of all resident information following HIPAA guidelines.

Attend in-service education as required by position title.

Perform related duties as required.
