Iron Hand Brewing, LLC is Hiring a Server/Bartender Near Mobile, AL

Local Brewpub seeking part-time Servers/Bartenders

Who are we?

Iron Hand Brewing is a local, family owned and operated brewpub nestled within the DeTonti Square Historic District in downtown Mobile, Alabama. We are housed on the main floor of a 100-year old church that contains much of the beautiful hardwood floors and ceilings of the original building. Our namesake was Henri "Iron Hand" DeTonti - one of the founding fathers of Mobile - and we connect ourselves to the history of our community as much as possible.

As a brewpub, we like to describe ourselves as a restaurant that brews our own beer. We have a scratch kitchen, which means that we make nearly everything in-house, from our Corned Beef and sauerkraut to nearly all of our bread products (including our own pizza dough). We specialize in brewing British-style ales and offer guest taps for those beer styles that we don't brew (such as sours).

What are our values?

We want our customers to feel like they've entered a warm, welcoming environment where they can relax with friends and family, or make new friends! We greet every customer as they walk in the door and wish them well when they leave. We are all about community - our byline is "Crafting Community through Craft Beer" - and we live out that mission by donating to local charities and participating in local events.

We want our employees to know that they are valued and that we will work right beside them every step of the way. We may not have the resources of the bigger corporations, but we put our hearts and souls into what we do and how we do it.

We also believe in transparency. There will be shifts when you make good money (not Dauphin St. money, but good money) and there will be shifts that are a little slower. At this point, this job should not be the only thing paying your rent or mortgage. We hope that changes. We've got a lot of exciting events coming up in the next few months that will absolutely help with that! We will be happy to work around your existing schedule to make sure everyone gets the shifts they want/need as much as humanly possible.

Job Description

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have experience serving food and alcohol, especially craft beer. We've just gone into distribution, so we need our employees to be able to talk intelligently with our customers about our beers and how each style pairs with our food offerings (don't worry, we can walk you through the pairing bit). Bartending experience and the ability to create quality mixed drinks in a fast-paced setting is a plus.

The ideal candidate will be at least 21 years old. They will have their own transportation (or at least a reliable way of getting to work). They will provide our customers with a quality service-focused experience that will make them want to come back time after time.

When and where would you work?

We are open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4pm to 9pm, Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 9pm, and Sundays (for brunch) from 10am to 4pm. We are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Nearly all of your shifts will be at the pub and during some portion of these hours (with a little time before and after for prep/cleaning, of course). We are especially looking for someone with availability on the weekends and for special events.

Sometimes we have special events during hours or on days that we are not normally open, and you will sometimes be asked to work those events. Sometimes we participate in or cater events that are at other locations and you will sometimes be asked to work those events. We will work with your schedule as much as possible.
