IRD is Hiring a Service Technician, Intelligent Transportation Technology Near Durham, NC

About the Position:

Under the direction of the Field ServiceManager, the Service Technician is responsible for installing and repairingIntelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) installations for various end-users.

Key responsibilities:
  • Assist in the installation and integration of newand replacement equipment as required.
  • Supervision of in-road and roadside civilconstruction activities.
  • Supervise subcontractors to ensure installations,repairs and service are performed in accordance with IRD standards.
  • Provide unparalleled customer service excellence.
  • Adhere to Corporate safety and quality policies.
  • Maintain company vehicles to ensure excellentworking conditions, cleanliness and adhere to regular maintenance schedule.
  • Provide routine maintenance and emergency servicework to installed equipment as outlined in the service contracts.
  • Maintain client relations by communicating with andtraining customers on the use of IRD deployed systems.
  • Provide accurate and detailed record-keeping forservice work performed, in IRD’s standard format including on-site record andelectronic reporting. (a web-based service ticket reporting tool).
  • Integration of roadside electronics, specializedtesting, calibrations, and set-up of various parameters through software menus.
  • Post-installation drawing and specification reviewsfor site compliance verifications and corrections may be required.
  • Work with people fromother areas of the company (ex. Technical Support, Engineering, Sales,Manufacturing, etc) to resolve any technical, design or functional issues.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of software and hardwareapplications with a focus on Linux/Unix & Microsoft Windows-basedenvironment.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word,Outlook, etc.).
  • Excellent work record of self-motivation, judgment,productivity, and safety.
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to operatebasic hand tools such as grinders, drills, meters crimping pliers,screwdrivers, soldering irons, and wrenches.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and analyze hardware andsystem operation problems using tools of the trade.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in ademanding environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated with good organization and timemanagement skill.
  • Ability to lift 65 lbs.
  • Work outdoors for extended periods of time.
  • Possess formal training, education in electronicstechnology or equivalent experience.
  • Must possess a valid passport and be able to travelthroughout the region.
  • A valid Drivers’ License and a clean driving recordis required as a condition of employment.
  • Required to pass a DOT Medical exam bi-annually.
