GENERAL JOB SUMMARY :

This is a full-time position located primarily on the Estherville Campus. The Test Center Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring consistent and efficient testing practices within all campus Success Centers.

Responsibilities include administration of various tests, including standardized placement exams, certification exams and assessments, and academic tests.

The Test Center Coordinator will also manage many aspects of daily test center operations, which includes creating schedules for online and group exams, maintaining test security, training test proctors, and finally, providing excellent customer service to all testing candidates.

Travel between campuses will be required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (% OF TIME) : Constant (-%)

  • Proctor various exams for credit, non-credit, and Continuing Education programs. This can include exams for PSI, Accuplacer, CLEP, CASAS, Canvas, and many more.
  • Ensure test security and test compliance practices are followed at each of the campus Success Centers.
  • Train staff members in test proctor procedures for the carious exams.
  • Work collaboratively with HSED and ESL instructors to schedule and proctor required exams.
  • Provide technical assistance for proctors and testers, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with IT support as necessary.
  • Promote Success Center and testing services to potential student test takers and community members.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data on placement policies at Iowa Lakes.
  • Work collaboratively with Director of Academic Success on multiple measures placement process, including collecting and analyzing date, and training faculty and staff on policy.
  • Assist and communicate with students who require testing accommodations to develop a plan to serve them in the best way possible.

Frequent (-%)

  • Maintain online testing schedules for various PSI exams offered in Success Centers.
  • Maintain and update test center equipment and proctor contracts for each campus Success Center.
  • Enter placement scores in college system and maintain accurate records.
  • Communicate with advising staff regarding student placement.
  • Work with educational counseling staff to assist those requiring testing accommodation plans.

Occasional (-%)

  • Attain various proctor certifications to provide testing for students in the Success Centers.
  • Research new exam offerings and technology requirements for these.
  • Research and review procedures and technologies for accommodated resting and train staff in the implementation of these technologies with testers.
  • Attend HISET Chief Examiner meetings.
  • Serve as member of appropriate committees.
  • Attend professional development trainings and conferences and keep current with developing trends in academic testing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :

  • Ability to assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems, and exercise good judgment when making decisions.
  • Ability to interact effectively with students and college personnel.
  • Ability to efficiently perform tasks in an environment of frequent interruptions.
  • Thorough knowledge of technology and office procedures as well as correct oral and written communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic and energetic in job performance; maintain high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity in assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Represent the college in a positive manner to employees, students, visitors, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with academically under-prepared students.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

SPECIAL DEMANDS :

Position involves sitting or standing most of the time in the Success Center or classroom / laboratory setting. Constant (-%) reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions and viewing various types of close visual work.

Frequent (-%) stooping, crouching, pushing, pulling, and carrying. Exerting up to pounds of force occasionally. Will be required to travel within community college service area utilizing personal vehicle.

Some statewide or regional travel may be required.

Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
