Iowa Central Community College is Hiring an Admissions Representative Near Fort Dodge, IA

Description Summary

Under limited direction, the Admissions Representative serves as an initial positive contact for prospective students to the College. Primary responsibilities include planning and scheduling recruitment activities and visiting high schools throughout Iowa, representing Iowa Central at college fairs, conducting campus appointments and tours, making decisions regarding distribution of scholarship funds, and recommending strategies for recruitment on an ongoing basis. The Admissions Representative will be required to exercise discretion and independent judgment to perform the foregoing. Position includes extensive contact with students, parents and high school personnel. Travel will be required to high schools, college/high school fairs, and related recruiting activities. May be required to work some evening and/or weekend hours throughout the year.

Examples of Duties

Constant (67-100%)

  • Schedule, visit and make multiple presentations at high schools throughout Iowa.
  • Assist prospective students and parents with on-campus visits and tours.
  • Correspond when appropriate to prospective students by e-mail and phone for admissions follow-up.
  • Assist with College’s formal Triton Visit Days.
  • Represent Iowa Central at various other recruiting events.
  • Will participate, as requested, in special enrollment/recruiting related projects.
  • Provide input and insights into the development of special recruiting communication tools.
  • Regularly evaluate recruitment activities and make suggestions for changes and improvements.
  • Evaluate prospective students for their eligibility and qualifications to receive scholarship funds.
  • Distribute scholarship funds to recipients as determined by the advisor.

Frequent (34-66%)

  • Attend departmental and division meetings.
  • Assist faculty in all recruitment phases.
  • Serve as a liaison between Enrollment Services and Instruction.
  • Responsible for relaying information to students (i.e. transfer days).

Occasional (10-33%)

  • Serve on college committees.
  • Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of communications within the college and the community.
  • Other duties as assigned.

1. Be able and willing to represent the College in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current students and their parents.
2. Must be an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and energetic individual with the ability to meet and deal effectively and courteously with students and college personnel.
3. Assume responsibility; deal effectively with problems, and exercise independent judgment when making decisions and recommendations about matters such as travel, scheduling, and distribution of scholarship funds.
4. Have the ability to read, understand, and express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written form.
5. Possess strong human relations skills. Get along with diverse personalities.
6. Be able to demonstrate appropriate advising and counseling skills in both individual and group settings.
7. Possess planning skills and ability in organizing and implementing detailed plans.
8. Must be a creative individual with proven leadership, public relations, planning and strong interpersonal communications and team building skills.
9. Must be a self-starter, creative, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Should be enthusiastic about the community college and be able to relate well to the wide variety of people it serves. Previous experience in a community college is desirable. Must have a valid driver’s license.

GENERAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH OR WITHOUT A REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:
