Description

The Education Department of Iona University is seeking an individual at the rank of Clinical Lecturer for the role of Senior Director of Clinical Experiences beginning in the Fall 2024 semester. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in preK-12 settings, as well as experience with teacher supervision and mentoring. Expertise in Early Childhood Education, Bilingual Education, and/or Special Education is preferred. 12-month position.

Primary Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Build and maintain relationships with our preK-12 partners.
  • Place student teachers in their preK-12 school sites.
  • Oversee the student teaching supervisors and content-area experts who observe and mentor our student teachers.
  • Plan the student teaching seminar.
  • Ensure compliance with state and accreditor requirements for fieldwork, practicum, and student teaching.
  • Oversee the Director of Pre-Student Teaching Fieldwork.
  • Teach 6-12 credits, or one to two courses per semester, during the academic year, as needed.
  • Engage in departmental service and/or service to the university as required.
  • Assist in data collection and reporting on behalf of the department as needed.

Qualifications


Required Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate degree in education, curriculum and instruction, teacher education, or a related field.
  • Professional/Permanent teacher certification in New York State.
  • Minimum of three (5) years of experience teaching in PK-12 schools.
  • Minimum of three (2) years working in a supervisory/mentorship capacity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Students with Disabilities, TESOL, and/or Bilingual Certification.
  • Experience teaching at the university level.
  • Experience teaching at the early childhood level.
  • Experience with educational technology.
  • Experience with online learning environments.
  • Experience with virtual observations.
