Intrepid is Hiring an Electronics Installer-Technician Near Largo, FL

Job Summary:

As an Electronic Installer/Technician in the marine industry, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electronic systems and equipment on marine vessels. This includes navigation systems, communication equipment, entertainment systems, and other electronic components essential for safe and efficient operation at sea. You will work closely with other marine professionals, including engineers, captains, and crew members, to ensure that electronic systems meet industry standards and operational requirements.

Responsibilities: 

  1. Installation: Install and integrate electronic systems and equipment onboard marine vessels according to specifications and design plans. This may include navigation systems, radar, sonar, GPS, communication systems, entertainment systems, and other electronic devices.
  2. Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance checks and inspections on electronic systems to ensure proper functionality and performance. Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics to identify and resolve any issues or malfunctions promptly.
  3. Repair: Respond to service calls and emergencies to diagnose and repair electronic equipment failures or malfunctions onboard marine vessels. Coordinate with other team members and suppliers to procure replacement parts and components as needed.
  4. Testing: Conduct thorough testing and calibration of electronic systems to verify proper operation and alignment. Ensure that all equipment meets regulatory standards and manufacturer specifications.
  5. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of installation, maintenance, and repair activities, including work performed, parts used, and testing results. Complete service reports and documentation in accordance with company procedures and industry regulations.
  6. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working onboard marine vessels, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety regulations and procedures. Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  7. Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to marine vessel owners, operators, and crew members. Communicate effectively and professionally, addressing any concerns or questions related to electronic systems and equipment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in electronics or marine technology preferred.
  • Proven experience in marine electronics installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Knowledge of marine navigation systems, communication equipment, radar, sonar, and other electronic components used in the marine industry.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards, including those set by organizations such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and interact professionally with clients and stakeholders.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work in challenging marine environments, including confined spaces, inclement weather conditions, and on moving vessels.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various marine locations as needed.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to established safety protocols and procedures.

Work Environment:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that a typical in a boat manufacturing business. The employee may be exposed to various hot or cold weather conditions.
