Senior Motion Planning Engineer:

Intramotev is seeking an Senior Motion Planning Engineer to join the development team to meet growing demands in the development of self-propelled rail vehicles. The role will be focused on developing an innovative motion planning system for self-propelled rail vehicles. The successful candidate will be a member /mentor / coach of the development team responsible for designing and developing software to generate safe, efficient, and reliable trajectories for rail vehicles. Experience with model predictive control and optimal control are preferred. The development of these capabilities include multidisciplinary skills - architecture and systems development, integration, and testing. This position will be based out of St. Louis, MO.

This position involves working in a dynamic team environment on small (1-2) to medium (3-6) person projects where excellent interpersonal and communication skills are needed. Due to the research nature of the work, project objectives and requirements are likely to evolve over the course of the role. A small amount of domestic travel to support integration, demonstration and customer engagement will be required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Define architecture for motion planning systems from system level to component level.
  • Design global and local motion planners for safety critical systems.
  • Design planners that can adapt global trajectories to local constraints.
  • Local trajectory optimization and time parameterization
  • Develop validation methodologies to test the provided solutions
  • Perform studies and make recommendations on system and component reliability and availability.
  • Support customer networks including deployment, handover and ongoing support throughout system lifecycle.
  • Coordinates the hardware acquisition from suppliers along with any unique requirements for the design.
  • Research technological advancements for potential application to company business needs.
  • Makes recommendations for technology investments

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Science
  • 1-2 years of experience leading/managing a team of engineers
  • 3-5 years of experience with:
    • Experience with trajectory optimization algorithms.
    • Experience with solving global solution trajectories.
    • Model Predictive Control / Sensor-based Optimal Control.
    • Constrained Optimization.
    • Experience using Matlab / Simulink.
  • U.S. Person (immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided)
  • Motivated, detail-oriented
  • Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop innovative and novel approaches
  • Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment or as an individual contributor
  • Fluent in both written and verbal English

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

Candidate should have a working knowledge of one or (ideally) multiple areas listed below:

  • 2 years of experience with system architectures
  • 2 years of experience with C, C , C# and/or Python programming
  • Unmanned Rail Systems / Unmanned Systems
  • Demonstrated experience working on project teams and collaborating with other engineering disciplines.

Typical Education and Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master 1 years' related work experience, 3 years' related work experience, etc.).

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
