Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits and addresses inquiries from banks; includes bank reconciliation for General, Cash Collateral, CDA, Bulk Fuel, Bulk Lubes, Credit Line, Payroll and several Branch Banking accounts. Researches and resolves any un-reconciled items.
  • Import daily transactions from bank and daily postings from accounting software for matching and reconciliation.
  • Prepares and posts general journal entries associated with banking, cardlock and payroll banking.
  • Posts the daily sweeps of the ZBA accounts to accounting software.
  • Post monthly bank and analysis fees and CR’s for General account.
  • Calculates and posts monthly allocations for finance charge reclass, freight on lube transfers, solvent/kero labor, CR Clearing, post Pac Pride and CFN entries and other allocations for month end close as needed.
  • Assists in month end closing processes.
  • Assists with internal audits involving review of accounting controls and bank collateral audits. Assists the Director of Accounting in the preparation of all year-end data and journal entries required for tax purposes. Assists with other state, federal, banking and other audits as needed.
  • Serves as a resource to other departments in answering accounting questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.
  • Provides assistance in twice yearly physical inventory counts.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting.
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software. Intermediate-level Excel required.

Education and Experience:

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field/experience, required.
  • At least 2-3 years of related experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of sweep accounts.
