We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Service Technician with 2 years’ experience to join our talented Service team.

On-call is only TWICE PER YEAR! Year-round work, no layoffs!

As a Service Technician specializing in Commercial HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting HVAC equipment in commercial buildings. Your role is crucial in ensuring that these systems operate efficiently, meet safety standards, and provide optimal comfort for occupants.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance:

• Conduct regular maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting system components to ensure optimal performance.
• Replace or repair defective parts to restore system functionality and efficiency.

Troubleshooting and Repairs:

• Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify problems accurately.
• Perform repairs promptly and efficiently to minimize downtime and disruptions to building occupants.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system issues, such as malfunctioning thermostats, faulty wiring, or refrigerant leaks.

System Testing and Calibration:

• Calibrate controls, thermostats, and sensors to maintain precise temperature and humidity levels within commercial spaces.
• Conduct tests and inspections to evaluate HVAC system performance, airflow, temperature control, and humidity levels.

Emergency Response:

• Implement effective solutions to restore functionality and ensure the safety and comfort of occupants.
• Respond to emergency service calls, including after-hours or weekends, to address urgent HVAC system failures or malfunctions.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Prepare detailed reports documenting findings, recommended repairs, and parts used for each service visit.
• Maintain accurate records of service activities, including installations, repairs, maintenance tasks, and equipment inspections.

Customer Interaction:

• Provide guidance and recommendations on system upgrades, energy efficiency improvements, and preventive maintenance plans.
• Communicate effectively with clients, building managers, and other stakeholders to understand their HVAC needs and concerns.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Proven experience as an HVAC service technician, preferably in a commercial setting.
• Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and repairing various HVAC systems, including air handlers, boilers, chillers, and rooftop units.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC principles, components, electrical systems, and refrigeration cycles.
• Familiarity with HVAC diagnostic tools, such as multimeters, pressure gauges, and leak detectors.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and resolve complex HVAC issues.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with clients and team members.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• EPA Section 608 certification for handling refrigerants (or willingness to obtain certification).
• Physical stamina and dexterity to work in various indoor and outdoor environments, including climbing ladders and lifting heavy equipment.

Education and Certification:

• High school diploma or equivalent (HVAC trade school certification or apprenticeship is a plus).
• Completion of HVAC certification programs or apprenticeships.
• EPA Section 608 certification (Type II or Universal).
• Additional certifications or training in specific HVAC equipment or controls are advantageous.

Working Conditions:

• Work may involve exposure to various weather conditions, confined spaces, heights, and potentially hazardous materials.
• May require working in non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during emergencies or peak demand periods.
• Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, bend, kneel, and work in tight spaces.

Basic Job Requirements:

• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen, a valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record, and a criminal background check
• Team player with good communication skills
• Mechanically inclined with problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with industrial tools and equipment
• Ability to handle physical workload

Other Knowledge & Qualifications-

• Previous experience and/or HVAC trade education
• EPA/ OSHA certifications
• Knowledge of service, maintenance, and repair of HVAC equipment
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, including but not limited to- diagnosing causes of equipment failures, testing parts with appropriate instruments, disassemble and assemble parts, and make necessary repairs to equipment and correlating components.
