International Sign Association is Hiring a Bookkeeper Near Alexandria, VA

Summary: Provide accounting support to ISA Vice President, Finance and Administration and Senior Manager, Accountant. Assist in maintaining accurate books on accounts payable/receivable and daily financial and general ledger entries and reconciliations to ensure accurate creation of monthly balance sheet and income statements.

About You: You are an uber-organized, detail-oriented, professional who can set priorities while juggling many tasks and deadlines. You are technically adept and highly accurate at data entry. You enjoy supporting the successful day-to-day operations of a team by listening well, asking questions, and performing in a timely and accurate manner. You enjoy working with and talking to people and are willing to jump in as needed to help get the job done. You are observant and do not hesitate to make process improvement suggestions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process all ISA and Sign Research Foundation (SRF) accounts payable and accounts receivable working with the appropriate budget manager to ensure invoices are properly authorized and coded.
  • Post transactions within ISA/SRF accounting system.
  • Assist in the monthly reconciliation of ISA/SRF accounts to ensure accuracy of financial data and effective monthly closing.
  • Assist in developing and preparing monthly financial and managerial reports for the financial department including income statements, balance sheets, and accounts receivable reports.
  • Assist finance team in preparing the annual budgets for ISA and SRF.
  • Process collections for accounts receivable and monitor collections efforts, and report progress to the appropriate budget manager.
  • Assist with any additional duties and/or tasks as needed to help support the organization and other staff/departments.
  • Adherence to accounting policies and procedures and human resources policies.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate confidently.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain disciplined adherence to deadlines and accuracy.
  • Ability to travel once annually, which may include a weekend.
  • Ability to be in-person at the ISA Headquarters as business needs require, from one (1) day a week to one (1) to two (2) days a month.
  • Experience with non-profit a plus.

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience in Excel, including the creation and manipulation of pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with different personality styles and build collaborative working relationships.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Office Suite.

Preferred

  • A four-year degree in accounting from an AACSB accredited college or university.
  • At least 2 years of experience in accounting, external auditing, or a combination of both.
  • Experience with Bill.com, Intacct, Salesforce and QuickBooks Online.
