International Paper is Hiring a Health & Safety Manager Near Savannah, GA
The Health & Safety Manager provides leadership and functional oversight for safety and loss prevention at the Savannah Mill. The position reports to the mill EHS Manager. This position evaluates the mill’s working conditions and supports safety culture development to maximize employee safety and ensure compliance with government and company regulations and achieve continuous improvement through sustainable EHS management systems.
Responsibilities include:
Manage mill safety, security, and health service program areas
Recommend changes to reduce safety hazards and health risks
Responsible for developing policies, procedures, programs, training, and implementation tools to maintain a safe and healthy work environment
Responsible for managing Emergency Response Team and all training of the same
Responsible for mill fire safety systems
Communications dealing with promotion of a safe work place including orientation of new employees
Provide Health & Safety support to mill manufacturing areas.Lead and facilitate development of practical solutions to Health and Safety issues in the manufacturing areas.
Lead and facilitate injury case management striving to attain both adequate care and positive outcome for the facility.
Lead, participate, and/or facilitate safety incident investigations.Ensure root causes are identified and corrective actions are developed to address incident root causes.
Provides functional strategic direction for accomplishing our vision of an accident free work place while positively impacting profitability and operational excellence.
Qualifications:
Technical training and proficiency in OSHA standards
Possess a clear ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks
Demonstrated ability to build teams and work in a team environment
Established skill to execute work based on standards and procedures
Basic meeting, facilitation and listening skills along with an established ability to manage change and conflict are required.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to influence, lead, lead and manage safety in the pursuit of an accident free work environment
Possess good oral and written communication skills
BS in safety or technical/science degree is preferred
Minimum of 8-10 years safety experience preferably in the paper industry
