We are currently seeking a full-time Fleet Maintenance Supervisor. This position supervises the day-to-day operations of the fleet maintenance department including: planning, scheduling, and directing personnel on assigned shift including both skilled and semi-skilled employees. The position is responsible for ensuring servicing and repairs meet manufacturer, Department of Transportation and Federal guidelines/regulations and recommended practices within the Agency's fleet. Assists with compliance of local, state, federal environmental and safety programs. Assists with development of short- and long-term fleet goals and programs. Assists in meeting department KPIs including, PM compliance, technician productivity, and fleet availability. Assists with budget development and reconciliation.

Examples of Duties

As a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, you will:
  • Supervise staff work assignments, performance evaluations, adherence to policies and procedures, and employment-related and disciplinary decisions, train, mentor, and coach employees.
  • Determine labor and equipment resources and supervise all vehicle and equipment maintenance activities to assure efficient work performance according to guidelines, procedures, and regulations.
  • Supervise activities for requisition of parts and components for repair and maintenance of agency vehicles and, equipment.
  • Research vehicle and equipment problems or failures and draw conclusions to facilitate repair and resolution. Perform random quality assurance inspections.
Typical Qualifications

Are you the one we are looking for?
  • Associates degree in related field and five (5) years of increasingly responsible fleet and/or maintenance experience; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Fleet maintenance or management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance standards and procedures.
  • Proven technical and report writing skills; ability to maintain organized logs and records.
  • Experience interpreting extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Excellent organizational, public relations, problem/conflict solving, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of departmental matters and personnel actions; demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels while monitoring and evaluating subordinate staff.
  • This position will be assigned to swing shift Wednesday thru Saturday 2:30pm to 1:00am however, must be flexible to work any combination of days, swing, graveyard, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to obtain first aid certifications.

Washington State Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS)
Employees are covered under PERS I, PERS II and PERS III of the Employee and Employer contributions are required at start of employment.
Deferred Compensation Plans (401K and 457)
Intercity Transit offers three voluntary deferred compensation plans. Employees who contribute at least 6.2% to a plan receive a 6.2% employer match. Employee contributions are not subject to federal income tax until withdrawn.
Vacation Leave, Sick Leave, and Observed and Floating Holiday Leave
Employees accrue 12 to 25 vacation days per year depending upon date of eligibility and length of service. The maximum accrual limit is 360 hours.
Employees accrue 12 days of sick leave per year depending upon date of eligibility. The maximum accrual limit is 960 hours.
Non-represented employees receive 48 hours of floating holiday hours each year depending upon date of hire. Employees hired after January 1 receive floating holiday hours at the beginning of their introductory period according to the following schedule:
January 2 - April 1: 38 hours
April 2 - July 1: 29 hours
July 2 - October 1:19 hours
October 2 - December 31: 10 hours
Shoe Allowance
Facilities staff as well as Maintenance and Operations Supervisors are eligible for a shoe allowance of $225 each year.
