Position Title: Controller

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

Supervisory Role: Yes

Department: Accounting

Job Status: Exempt, Full time

Office Location: OKC Metro or Dallas/Fort Worth

JOB DESCRIPTION

Objective/Summary:

The Controller will direct all aspects of the accounting operations, the preparation of annual consolidated financial statements, tax preparation, forecasts, and other ad-hoc assignments. Oversees the development and continuous improvement of the financial accounting systems required to maintain and enhance reporting requirements. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to optimize the operations of the accounting function.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the administration, coordination, and evaluation of the financial activities of the Bank.
  • Oversee the general ledger, including structure and integrity, to ensure accurate financial reporting to our shareholders, regulators, and internal leadership.
  • Oversee reconciliations of general ledger accounts on a pre-defined, periodic basis in line with relative risk.
  • Responsible for the enhancement and oversight of key financial reporting and general ledger integrity procedures and controls.
  • Maintain financial policies, procedures, controls and financial reporting functions.
  • Identify, present process and control enhancement opportunities and solutions to senior management and other vested parties.
  • Lead, develop, and guide department employees.
  • Make recommendations to improve the operations and financial position of the Bank.
  • Interacts in a professional, courteous manner with customers, peers, co-workers, vendors, etc.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality guidelines in accordance with Bank policy.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and expertise of general bank accounting procedures and supports the Bank’s overall mission, standards, policies and procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Maintain personal grooming and company dress and appearance standards.
  • Maintain Bank attendance standards.
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 8 years of applicable business experience, preferably with a financial institution or associated regulatory body.
  • CPA license holder required.
  • Proficient and demonstrative knowledge of GAAP.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Experience with leading an accounting team, with a track record of identifying potential in candidates and creating a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Proven expertise in general ledger management, operational accounting, and team leadership.
  • Satisfactory credit and criminal background check.

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Skills:
    • Hard Skills: Proficient in basic computer operations including but not limited to Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Power BI. Able to type efficiently. Proficient and demonstrative knowledge of GAAP. CPA license holder.
    • Soft Skills: Ability to cultivate effective relationships and communicate effectively with executive and senior management, ability to be proactive, take initiative, and carefully monitor, follow through, and complete projects. Outstanding organization skills, can-do attitude, problem solving skills, decision-making skills sense of urgency, ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and strong work ethic.
  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Regularly required to talk and hear.
    • Requires sitting for an extending period with some walking, with some bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing
    • Occasional light lifting not over 25lbs
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
