InterAct is Hiring a Case Manager/Counselor- Shelter Near Raleigh, NC

Description

Each member of InterAct’s staff fulfills an important role in furthering InterAct’s mission of saving lives, rebuilding lives, and securing safer futures. 

The Case Manager/Counselor provides on-site coverage and case management/counseling services to residents in residential program. These services include, but are not limited to, case management, supportive counseling, advocacy, referral, and connection with appropriate wrap-around services. The person in this position must be an exceptional advocate and perform work in a manner that consistently upholds our core values and commitment to putting clients’ needs first.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides case management to clients around domestic violence issues and strategies for living independently.
  • Provides crisis counseling and supportive counseling assistance to clients in residential program.
  • Conducts needs assessments with new residents.
  • Meet with clients to set weekly and/or daily goals for their stay in the program.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community agencies and individuals providing services for women and children.
  • Assists in the organization of Holiday Bazaar and holiday donations.
  • Collaborate with other InterAct staff, program partners, and community stakeholders to help plan and/or coordinate comprehensive services that best meet client needs.
  • Provide education and consultation to community agencies/professionals as needed and represent InterAct in the community.
  • Complete and maintain accurate and current client records as required by the agency, its funding sources and other entities in a timely manner.
  • Complete and maintain accurate and current programmatic, funding, and/or other records/reports as required by the agency, its funding sources, and other entities.
  • Provides transportation and advocacy to clients for Mental Health, Substance Abuse, or school-related referrals as needed.
  • Assists Director of Shelter Programming with intake interviews for in-coming clients as needed.
  • Conduct regular inspections of resident’s rooms.
  • Provides support to walk-in services and crisis lines as needed.
  • Participates in regular supervision with program supervisor to review cases and process case progress.
  • Participate in volunteer training and community education presentations.
  • Review and update shelter program forms to track information most effectively and provide the most efficient services to the clients. 
  • Function in a specialist capacity for certain assignments as designated by supervisor.
  • Co-facilitate shelter support groups.
  • Function as a liaison for staff/community partners in assigned topics(s). 
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the program.

Requirements

  • Commitment to violence free relationships and ending the cycle of violence in our community.
  • Ability to provide culturally competent services and work with a diverse staff and clientele n an empathetic and non-judgmental manner. Strong knowledge and understanding of services available to clients in the community.
  • Strong case management skills.
  • Must demonstrate acceptable level of maturity, emotional stability, and sound judgment to provide effective services to diverse populations.
  • Familiarity with community-based services in Wake County and the ability to network and build relationships with community professionals.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize duties.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations while remaining calm and diplomatic.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and within a complex, fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems and achieve conflict resolution.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook etc.)
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related Human Services field. Three (3) years supervisory, direct services, crisis intervention and advocacy work required or five (5) years of equivalent experience. Previous experience with victims of domestic and/or sexual violence preferred. Candidates must pass a background check satisfactory to InterAct’s standards and adherence to InterAct’s COVID requirements.
