i3 is seeking a talented Mission Data Recorder Operator to join our SkyRange team. SkyRange is a program supporting the Test Resource Management Center (TRMC), a DoD Field Activity, utilizing Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to gather flight test data from hypersonic flight test events. The candidate will be responsible for successful operation of mission data recorders during telemetry test and evaluation activities and flight test events.

Pay Range $110,000-$165,000

The pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, geographic location, and any applicable laws

Responsibilities

• Train as an operator of telemetry mission data recorders
• Operate data recorders at the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC) facility and during missions at a variety of CONUS and OCONUS U.S. military test site installation locations in support of test events
• Capture telemetry data recording(s) during mission execution, verify data integrity, and perform data backup after missions
• Apply onsite software updates and IT patches to the mission data recorder equipment as directed by the development team and/or Customer
• Update existing data recorder Linux bash script(s) in preparation for telemetry mission flights, as needed.

Position Location: Edwards AFB, CA

Travel Required: 25-50% of the time to CONUS and OCONUS U.S. military test installations for testing

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline plus at least six years of applicable experience – or – at least 10 years of relevant experience in tactical communications and/or payload operation and a High School diploma or equivalent.
• 5 years of relevant DoD experience with tactical communication systems (SATCOM and/or LOS)
• Experience with IP networked communications
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Attention to detail, exceptional work ethic, good communication skills, and willingness to use and follow documented processes, checklists, and instructions
• Willing to expand and apply knowledge proactively growing and learning relevant skills
• Willing to work a flexible schedule to maintain testing cadence which may include extended shifts and weekends
• Must have and be able to maintain a valid U.S. Passport
• Comprehend and adhere to directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions
• Ability to carry, lift, or move test equipment up to 40 pounds and sit/stand for long periods
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Must have and maintain an active DoD Secret security clearance
• U.S. Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with scripting languages, bash scripts, and Linux environments
• Previous experience troubleshooting network procedures and best practices
• Experience in a flight test environment
• Experience in log file analysis
• A current DoD Top Secret (TS) security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a TS clearance
