Contract Administrator Job Summary:
Conducts a variety of analytical and operational studies regarding procurement activities, including financial, budget, regulatory, operational, or administrative issues or questions; evaluates alternatives, makes recommendations, and assists with the implementation of procedural, administrative, and operational changes after approval; prepares comprehensive technical records and reports, identifies alternatives, and makes and justifies recommendations.
Contract Administrator Responsibilities:
  • Monitors legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to purchasing and procurement
  • Knowledge of public purchasing and procurement methods and procedures, of state procurement principles and practices, of assigned commodities and products on the open market, of supply sources, and of the principles of business administration and accounting.
  • Knowledge of contracting and procurement regulations, of negotiating contracts, of developing contracts, of business administration and accounting principles and practices, and of policies and procedures of contract management.
  • Ability to evaluate bids, develop methods and procedures for locating supply sources, and maintain a recordkeeping system. To maintain effective working relationships with vendors and suppliers and to communicate effectively
  • The ability to effectively use the Microsoft Office Suite of programs, in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, PDF, and other contract management
  • Monitor and judge contractors on the quality and quantity of goods or services specified in the contract
  • Act as liaison between department and contractor in case of disputes, clarifications, and complaints
  • Receive, review and revise bid and RFP documents and purchase orders to ensure compliance with applicable statutes
  • Develop complex technical or specialized proposals or solicitations
Contract Administrator Knowledge & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in business, public administration, legal studies, or related field and two (2) years of experience preparing written specifications
  • Experience maintaining or implementing automated procurement systems or preparing formal solicitations and purchasing contracts
  • Managing purchasing contracts
  • Valid driver’s license
Pay Rate & Schedule:
  • $28/hour
  • Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
