THE POSITION

As a Senior Database Administrator at the Joint Staff Support Center (JSSC) IT Support Services, located in the Pentagon, Arlington, VA, your role focuses on managing the efficiency and functionality of database systems. Responsibilities include data management support, architecture design, performance monitoring, ensuring data integrity, and implementing security measures. Additionally, you play a vital role in providing Continuity of Operations (COOP) support critical to fulfilling the JSSC mission responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Database Design and Development: Design, develop, and troubleshoot databases to ensure reliable access for all users. Ensure system uptime and availability while providing sufficient resources to support operational needs, growth, and resiliency.
• Security and Compliance: Monitor and maintain database security at various levels to safeguard sensitive information. Ensure compliance with security standards and regulations while conducting testing during system integrations and upgrades.
• User Management and Integration: Manage and update user access rights, data schemas, and integration with applications to meet mission requirements. Evaluate data warehouse needs and ensure seamless data integration and utilization.
• Data Asset Management: Identify, standardize, and manage data assets across the enterprise to maintain consistency, accuracy, and high data quality. Perform translation, integration, and reconciliation of enterprise data structures and values.
• Problem Resolution and Performance Evaluation: Analyze and resolve database system production problems and user requirements. Participate in database design and performance evaluation reviews, providing guidance to systems engineers on coding issues.
• Documentation and Communication: Maintain detailed operations logs and maintenance schedules to document significant events and activities. Interact with external organizations and customer leadership to address complex technical issues and establish effective partnerships.
• Continuous Improvement: Exercise sound judgment to identify upgrade needs and anticipate customer requirements. Drive improvements in the operating environment through expert support while ensuring compliance with safety, security, and procedural protocols.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• 100% on-site at the Pentagon.
• Day-shift role

• High School diploma or equivalent; AND,
• Minimum active Top-Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility; AND,
• DoD 8570/8140 Information Assurance Technical Level II (IAT-II) Certification (CompTIA Security CE or equivalent); AND,
• 10 years of information technology experience in database management
