As the public health institute serving the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia, the Institute for Public Health Innovation (IPHI) develops multi-sector partnerships and innovative solutions to improve the public’s health and well-being across the region. IPHI’s work strengthens health systems and policy, enhances conditions that promote health, and builds community capacity to ensure equitable health opportunities for all.
At IPHI, equity is a cornerstone and guiding principle of our organization’s public health approach. We strive to be an anti-racist/anti-oppressive organization and apply these principles in our work with communities and organizational partners and internally within our own organization. We are committed to ensuring that equity is institutionalized and operationalized within all our programs, policies, and practices.
IPHI is currently recruiting for a Director, Prince George’s County Food Equity Council. Formed in 2013, the Prince George’s County Food Equity Council (FEC) is a local food policy council that helps residents grow, sell, and choose healthy foods. IPHI helped incubate FEC and currently serves as its backbone organization and fiscal sponsor. The FEC works closely with county leaders to find systemic and sustainable solutions to the county’s public health and economic challenges. The Director will manage a team that leads several programs and initiatives focused on food rescue, a healthy food prescription pilot project, and supporting food assistance providers, among other projects.
The Director will lead collaborative public health program development, implementation, and evaluation activities, with a principal focus on food systems approaches. This senior leadership position requires oversight and coordination of high-quality program design and delivery, internal administration and project management, external partnership facilitation, and cultivation of new business opportunities and program portfolio development, as well as other responsibilities.
