Description

Temporary Site Supervisor 2(FL)

The Temporary Site Supervisor position provides long-term recovery assistance, through home repairs, for survivors of disasters. This position is responsible for supervising volunteer led construction projects in disaster-impacted communities, overseeing materials and logistics for sites and may also include leading volunteers in muck/guts and mold sanitation jobs. The position will work with Construction Managers and other Site Supervisors during times when there are no volunteers.

Position Details:

  • Supervise unskilled volunteers in the safety of using power tools, ladders, hand tools and equipment (e.g., circular saw, miter saw, table saw, ladders, air compressor with pneumatic nailer, lifts, etc.) once trained (if not already).
  • Communicate tasks and expectations clearly to team members, providing support to recovery constructive project and team
  • Reports to Executive Director of Disaster Relief
  • Located in Lee County (Fort Myers) FL
  • Extensive travel required for this position.
  • Compensation is $31,112 for duration of assignment

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with the homeowners of the home that has been impacted by the disaster
  • Engage with the unskilled and skilled volunteers assisting with residential construction and muck/gut projects; primarily interior work, interspersed with an occasional roofing project, ensuring positive experiences for volunteers and a high quality of work on the homeowner’s home.
  • Ensure material ordering and purchasing for sites as well as coordinating delivery for materials to sites within the appropriate time
  • Must be open and trainable to providing daily safety orientation which ensure that volunteers are utilizing the proper PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) at all times.
  • Must be open and trainable to learn how to: Framing, installing drywall, mud, tape and sanding, installing floors, baseboards, doors, door casings, kitchen/bathroom cabinets, countertops, sinks, tubs, tub surrounds and toilets to eventually teach unskilled volunteers
  • Ensure compliance with work scope and quality standards.
  • Communicate material/tool needs to the Construction Manager on a regular basis
  • Maintain inventory of tools and materials
  • Maintain a folder of emergency contacts for the volunteers and locations/phone numbers of community emergency services and facilities.
  • Drive to and from locations for ordering, delivering, supervising sites when needed as well as moving trailers when needed
  • Input accurate records of volunteer hours, finances, and worksite updates of what has been accomplished and what is still to be completed in the Disaster Relief Tracking Database.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one-year transferable experience
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills as well as good people skills and ability to work with groups of different ages, backgrounds, religious beliefs, and culture backgrounds.
  • Must be well organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Strong flexibility and adaptivity skills with a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to ever evolving situations of work scope and workload and perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude while completing challenging work.
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination and booster is required.
  • To be considered, applicants must have a valid driver’s license required andpass a comprehensive background check, including work references and drivers record check.

Physical Demands:

This position requires extensive travel and may requiredriving on hazardous road conditions, working in extreme heat or cold conditions, working in homes with high risk of injury situations and substandard conditions including mold, insects, and rodents.
