Insight Global is Hiring a Data Center Technician Near Hermiston, OR

Must-Haves:

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail – to adhere to documentation procedures that are crucial to ensure the integrity and security of our data center infrastructure throughout the decommissioning process.
  • Ability to perform labor and other heavy lifting tasks safely and efficiently.

Plusses:

  • Previous data center experience.
  • IT knowledge (COMPTIA , fixing computers, etc.)

Day-to-Day:

Insight Global is looking for a Rack Decommissioning Data Technician to join our growing team. The Decommissioning Technical team is responsible for processing and facilitating large scale legacy Data Center equipment through a liquidation process to ensure that targeted equipment is ready to be removed off premises. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for the safe and efficient decommissioning of hardware and equipment within our data center environment. You will work in a team environment and collaborate with other teams, which requires strong communication skills. These data centers take customer data with the utmost importance, and candidates must be able to perform repetitive tasks without variance and adhere to strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that ensures customer data is protected and properly handled.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Execute the decommissioning of hardware components, including servers, storage systems, and networking devices, in accordance with established procedures and protocols.
  • Physical un-rack and stack operations for decommissioned equipment, ensuring proper handling and disposal of hardware components.
  • Comprehensive cabling and networking disconnections while maintaining the integrity of existing infrastructure and adhering to safety standards.
  • All decommissioning activities, changes, and configurations accurately to provide a thorough record of hardware removal and disposal.
  • Utilize ticketing system requests related to decommissioning tasks, prioritizing activities based on urgency and impact on data center operations.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues encountered during the decommissioning process, seeking support from cross-functional teams when necessary.
  • Work with stakeholders to assess decommissioned equipment for potential reuse, recycling, or disposal, following environmental regulations and organizational policies.
  • Be in compliance with data security and privacy requirements throughout the decommissioning process, including data sanitization and disposal procedures.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $26.73 per hour
