Job Title: Civil Design Engineer II
Job Summary
• Assist in the designing of construction projects, such as commercial centers, roads, storm water removal, water management, and sewage systems.
General Accountabilities
• Assist with grading, utility, and improvement plans.
• Prepare estimates for quantities and costs of materials.
• Analyze surveys, maps, drawings, aerial photographs, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
• Compile and submit permit applications to local, state, and federal agencies verifying that projects comply with various regulations.
• Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and standards.
• Assist in the preparation of hydrology reports, water quality management studies, SWPPS, water and sewer studies, emras, and other needed engineering documents and exhibits.
• Assist in the design of energy efficient or environmentally sound civil structures.
• Lead and support interns and CAD techs on projects.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment. * The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
Job Qualifications
• Experience: 2-4 years of civil engineering work experience.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• License: EIT and taken the 8-hour portion of PE Exam preferred.
Job Expectations
• Arrive to work on time.
• Prepare for meetings with necessary supplies to take notes and keep an updated notebook.
• Organize and tidy work space.
• Input time card daily.
• In-person daily communication with manager regarding status of job progress and via email if manager is unavailable.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
• Frequent walking and standing, and at times sitting for multiple hours.
• Frequent bending, stooping and kneeling to check construction items at offsite inspections.
• Handling of equipment such as manhole pick, hydrant wrench, two-wheel dollies, and other such items. Lifting of up to 40 pounds.
• Providing own transportation to make deliveries and to attend management meetings or site inspections.
Skills
• Knowledge in the following programs: AUTOCAD, CIVIL3D, ARCGIS, Word, Excel, PDF.
• Ability to solve complex problems.
• Ability to make sound judgments and impactful decisions.
• Appropriate mathematical computation ability, efficient time management, and effective coordination.
• Efficient and thorough written and oral communication.
• Strong leadership
