Our program is an all-weather, mixed-age outdoor learning environment, catering to children between the ages of 3 to 6. Some of our learners have unique needs, including autism, ADHD, and emotional regulation challenges. Extensive training in brain-based, positive discipline approaches will be provided to ensure success in this role.
This position is available for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from approximately 9:00 AM to Noon, with some basic clean-up duties afterward. There is also the flexibility to split this position between two teachers, if necessary. We are seeking individuals who can commit at least through the end of December, with the possibility of continuation based on mutual suitability. This role is perfect for those interested in pursuing a career in early childhood education, special education, or play therapy. No minimum educational requirements or formal classroom experience are necessary, and supervision is available for interns. Furthermore, there is the option to bring your own child, aged 3 to 6, to work with you. Please note that due to the nature of the class, we are unable to accommodate children outside this age range.

Key Responsibilities

2. Engage children in self-directed activities and creative art exploration.
3. Facilitate messy sensory play, fostering a stimulating and playful environment.
4. Implement brain-based, positive discipline approaches when interacting with children.
5. Support and adapt to the unique needs of children with autism, ADHD, and emotional regulation challenges.
6. Collaborate with the lead teacher to maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive outdoor classroom.
7. Assist with basic clean-up tasks following program activities.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with children of varying needs.
  • Enthusiasm for outdoor, all-weather teaching and a willingness to engage in messy sensory activities.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate children with diverse abilities.
  • A desire to learn and implement brain-based, positive discipline strategies.
  • Willingness to commit to the role through the end of December.
  • Interest in a career in early childhood education, special education, or play therapy.

Additional Information
  • No formal education or classroom experience is required.
  • Supervision is available for interns seeking valuable hands-on experience.
  • There is a possibility of bringing your own child (aged 3-6) to work with you.
  • Due to the nature of the class, we are unable to permit children outside the 3-6 age range to attend.
