Job title:

Pharmacy Inventory Coordinator 

Reports to:

C-Level Department Head

Mission

Support the materials acquisition management, providing product and software expertise and product adjudication function across 3 business units.

The duties and functions of this position are to manage the process of acquiring materials used to generate sales (e.g. drugs and supplies) and to maximize the margin generated from sales. To provide product expertise for external and internal customers and decision support for pricings and quality decisions. To assist with maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of buying and selling products through management of process, using query tools, leveraging relationships and knowledge of the drug supply chain and payor process. To manage or assist in management of personnel involved in executing the operational aspects of materials management.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee Cycle Count Process in all Pharmacies. Optimize processes over time for each pharmacy and Distribution Division. Ensure training, development and G’s and O’s of purchasing team members. Make recommendations for replenishing inventory
  • Oversee perpetual inventory process (including C2) and database integrity that supports efficient automatic processes throughout the database structure of the IT ecosystem
  • Manage Sure Cost business rules and processes in collaboration with other stakeholders
  • Oversee Loan/Borrow and overstock online auction process
  • Manage reverse distribution and return process for Distribution and Pharmacy
  • Implement LEAN manufacturing concepts in supply chain and develop team members knowledge of lean concepts
  • Participate or lead RCA and RIP processes with department managers and SMEs to improve supply chain processes
  • Report findings of queries and reports and make recommendations for improvements in Audit format or as 3M metrics
  • Monitor and report quality events in data entry and adjudication for correction and process improvement
  • Ensure product databases are optimized to support quality improvement initiatives
  • Support pharmacists and other personnel with product expertise, storage requirements or insurance coverage considerations
  • Support Sales function with pricing, formulary, size and formulation expertise to provide the most cost effective and compelling product set to acquire and retain customers
  • Monitor sales margin and look for opportunities for improvement
  • Monitor quality events in data entry and adjudication for correction and process improvement
  • Ensure the correct NDC relative to reimbursement and production needs are used depending on business type

Working conditions

The normal working hours for the Materials Management Manager are generally Monday through Friday from 9:00am-6:00pm, but may be adjusted on a case-by-case basis.
