Innovative Healing Systems is Hiring a Front Desk Associate - Medical Office Near Brandon, FL

Provides administrative support to a department and/or Institute Director. Duties include, but are not limited to, scheduling, facilitating insurance verification and authorization, patient registration, charge entry, general clerical, receptionist and project-based work. Demonstrates a professional, positive image both in-person and on the telephone.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answers telephones and transfers calls to appropriate staff member, announcing call.
  • Welcomes patients and visitors, professionally; adheres to HIPAA regulations.
  • Schedules patients, establishes appointments in timely manner.
  • Registers all patients upon arrival to the center.
  • Contacts patients with reminder of next day’s appointment and reschedules appropriately if needed.
  • Prints all face sheets for the next day’s appointments.
  • Maintains an accurate clinic electronic calendar.
  • Facilitates upon requests, patient appointments with ancillary services.
  • Verifies insurance authorization is received and noted in electronic medical record. Hyperbaric Medicine Authorizations are specific to the service. Validates authorization is current.
  • Validates all charges from the previous day are entered into the system.
  • Appropriately discharges patients from EMR at the time of discharge.
  • Collects patient co-payments and sends to the cashier daily.
  • Requests medical records at referral intake from referring physician and/or facilities.
  • Supports staff, with assigned project based work.
  • Participates in assuring adequate office supplies are available.
  • Creates and modifies documents using Microsoft Office as needed.
  • Performs clerical duties to include but not limited to, scanning, photocopying, faxing, mailing, etc.
  • Maintains electronic and manual filing systems.
  • Signs for and distributes UPS/FedEx/Airborne packages.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Possesses strong verbal communication skills; demonstrating ability to communicate with adult and geriatric age groups.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing patient flow schedules.
  • Ability to work with patients in person and via the phone.
  • Ability to work with high volume of patients and detail oriented.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

  • Possesses working knowledge of EMR system(s) and documentation requirements.
  • Possesses working knowledge of patient confidentiality standards and requirements.
  • Possesses working knowledge of outpatient provider services.
  • Ability to communicate and work closely with healthcare providers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Minimum 2 years of clerical reception experience in healthcare environment. medical terminology

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Associate’s degree.
  • Greater than 2 year of clerical reception experience in high volume healthcare environment.
  • Previous medical terminology, and medical office experience.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Patients welcomed in appropriate and timely manner.
  • Completes patient documents for preparation and documents discharge into/from EMR appropriately and in timely manner.
  • Patient payments are collected and submitted correctly and on time.
  • Works in conjunction with authorization department to ensure patient’s coverage at time of service.
  • Clerical duties are performed correctly, appropriately and in timely manner.
  • Demonstrates team work with co-workers and flexibility with changes.
  • Demonstrates adherence to IHS policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a safe patient environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $21.75 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
