Housing Navigator

SUMMARY:
Inland Housing Solutions (IHS), is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with over 30 years of experience serving homeless and affordable housing individuals and families. The mission of IHS is “to break the cycle of homelessness in the Inland Empire, by providing permanent housing options and other essential services to families who have no place to live.”

We are looking for individuals who understand the importance of quality customer service, real estate, and member needs, who can build intersectional relationships consisting of property owners, tenants, families, and other supportive agency partners. This focus holistically creates a supportive environment to address community gaps for our most vulnerable individuals and families.

This Housing Navigator position is a fast-paced, detail oriented, and high level of service environment. Our business is conducted with integrity, positivity, respectfulness, and in a responsive manner.

Professional Experience

● Must have one year of work experience in a non-profit or other human service field

● Must have knowledge of Fair Housing Laws and reasonable accommodations

● Must have Real Estate, property management, and/or commercial residential leasing experience

● Prefer experience with homeless, at risk of homeless, and/or people with heath conditions

● Prefer ​Education and/or experience working with people with disabilities, 55 and/or homeless individuals

● Prefer knowledge of rapid rehousing or other permanent supportive housing and/or affordable housing in both San Bernardino and Riverside Counties

● Experience working in a high pressure setting and ability to respond appropriately in an emergency

● Prefer fluent in Spanish

Major Responsibilities

• Creatively solve customer issues and provides resolutions to the customer’s satisfaction.
• Detailed documentation of customer incidents and resolutions in case records, emails, in a proficient, accurate, and timely manner
• Follow-up of customer cases and route necessary pertinent information to management, other departments, customers, etc.
• Identify and relay service solutions and efficiencies
• Responsible for learning and management of Insightly, Salesforce, and other data management systems
• Assist with new client inquiries/intakes/interviews and new member orientation
• Flexibility required regarding scheduling and prioritizing of tasks
• Ensure tenant well-being and unit habitability through a regular schedule of unit inspections and wellness checks
• Respond to housing and tenant-related emergencies during normal business and after hours.
• Assess the need for reasonable accommodations/unit modifications and ADA compliance
• Submit and follow up on tenant maintenance requests
• Routinely make home visits and phone calls to program participants
• Other duties assigned as needed

Housing Navigators have a hourly rate of pay between $22.00 and $30.00 per hour depending on experience.

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Hard Skills: Computer Skills, Microsoft Office, Customer Service Software, Typing

Soft Skills: Excellent written/verbal communication, customer-focused, ability to learn quickly, team player, attention to detail, thorough follow-up, and ability to multitask

● Typical Physical Demands:

o Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, and stooping.

o Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

o Driving long periods of time throughout both counties, sometimes in traffic

o Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.

o Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

o Regularly required to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, and telephone and reach with hands and arms

● Valid California Driver’s License with dependable vehicle.
