Industries of the Blind is Hiring a 3PL DC Shipping and Receiving Clerk Near Greensboro, NC

Job Summary

Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None

Required Skills and Abilities

Loading and unloading of truck
Assembling, processing and stage orders for shipment
Receiving and storing raw materials in designated area
Prepares and maintains related shipping and receiving documents
Processes orders utilizing FEDEX and UPS shipping station
Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons
Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding
Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages
Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies
May operate tier-lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area
Occasionally required to assume additional operational duties in the absence of shipping supervisor
Promptly completes any other duties and responsibilities designated by the department supervisor
Responsible for safety and good housekeeping practices around work areas
Basic computer skills necessary to utilize FEDEX and UPS shipping software
Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, etc. utilized in the movement and storage of materials
Capability of performing administrative tasks
Ability to stand and use external dexterities for an entire shift

Education and Experience

2 years’ experience performing warehouse duties or utilizing a warehouse management system
A high school diploma or equivalent required.
Equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical Requirements

Requires good manual dexterity and the ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for prolonged periods throughout the workday
Must be willing and able to perform several types of tasks
Able to lift 50 lbs.
