Job Summary: The position of Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for ensuring product is delivered according to agreed-upon customer requirements, performing tasks associated with efficient and timely shipping of product, packaging signs in preparation for shipping and loading and unloading trucks with forklift.

Essential Functions:

  1. Handle shipping functions
    1. Produce package lists/BOLs shop packs
    2. Find and organize packing lists/BOLs when orders are shipped to ensure smooth end process
    3. Maintain a system to track finished goods in yard
    4. Maintain uncluttered and efficient dock space
    5. Help coordinate final processes of production
    6. Handle shipment transactions
    7. Scan and upload copy of BOL on to the appropriate job card
    8. File BOLs by date
  2. Handle receiving functions
    1. Drive forklift to load and unload signs on trucks
    2. Use nail gun and chop saw to make crates for shipping
  3. Operation of the following tools in a safe manner according to OSHA and company guidelines:
    1. Metal Shear
    2. Metal Brake
    3. Radial Saws
    4. Iron worker
    5. Torch and plasma torch
    6. Overhead cranes
    7. Other miscellaneous hand tools
  4. Maintain work area and machinery/tools in good safe working condition
  5. Verifies conformance of work piece to specifications, using square, ruler, and measuring tape
  6. Special projects as assigned by management
  7. Follow the rules and regulations related to the safety of all employees working for the Company
    1. Adherence to all mandated safety procedures including: driving policy, production area safety requirements and fire safety
    2. Safety requires all employees to review materials provided by the Company related to any updates on safety procedures
    3. Informs management of any safety related issues
  8. Ensures safety of self and others through proper use and care of equipment/work area
    1. Handles and operates all equipment in a careful and safe manner
    2. Maintains tools and equipment in good working order and stores them properly
    3. Keeps all work areas neat and clear of potential hazards
  9. Other duties as assigned.

  7. Basic mathematical skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, and percentages
  8. Ability to read a tape measure

  10. Ability to read blue prints and interpret sign/shop drawings and specifications
  11. Thoroughness/detailed
  12. Time management
  13. Apply personal safety measures including utilizing the correct PPE
  14. Ability to take measurement of a job (ex: using a tape measure, steel rule, tri square)
  15. Knowledge of carpentry skills
  16. Knowledge of packing/crating procedures

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The use of hearing protection and safety eyewear is required. The use of additional specific safety equipment may be required.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to perform the following activities:

  1. Standing.
  2. Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  3. Fingering. Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers.
  4. Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  5. Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  6. Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
  7. Light work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  8. Visual Acuity. To perform close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; and visual inspection.
  9. Reaching: Extending hands and arms in all direction
  10. Forward bending, squatting, overhead reaching, kneeling/crawling, and climbing
  11. Continuous standing
  12. Lifting: Up to 70 lbs and team lifting up to 100 lbs
  13. Carry and use 5 lb to 10 lb power tools or paint containers very frequently
  14. Pushing and pulling
  15. Moderate level of hand to eye coordination and dexterity including picking, pinching, holding, grasping and repetitive flexion/rotation

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, 40 hour a week position with overtime as required. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel: No travel required.

Educational Requirements:

  1. Highschool diploma or GED.

Preferred Educational Requirements:

  1. Technical school training or certification

Knowledge Requirements:

  1. Operating shear and brake
  2. Forklift certificate
  3. Operate electric and pneumatic tools
  4. General construction methods
  5. Hand tools
  6. Overhead crane certification
  7. OSHA general industry standards
