***STARTING SALARY MAY BE ADJUSTED FOR EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING*** ***FOR CURRENT STATE EMPLOYEES, ESTABLISHED SALARY RULES APPLY*** To serve as a professional staff employee of the Indiana State Police (ISP) whose primary responsibility is to support the laboratory’s responsibilities in routine forensic microanalysis examinations with associated court presentations.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Perform administrative and support functions as necessary to maintain analytical service.Acquire and maintain analytical proficiency in forensic microanalysis.Maintain effective communication with the scientific and criminal justice communities.Satisfactory completion in an ISP recognized forensic microanalysis training/testing program.Upon completion of relevant training, conduct forensic analysis of routine trace evidence materials utilizing approved Unit Test Methods.Work under the direction of a higher-level forensic scientist or supervisor including the review of records.Demonstrate communication skills and forensic science knowledge.Participate in a proficiency testing program.Qualify to testify in court as an expert in forensic microanalysis.Communicate analytical procedures, methodology, policies, and conclusions to various elements in the criminal justice system including court testimony as an expert witness.Assist in preventative maintenance of laboratory instruments and safety equipment.Participate in continuing education and training programs in analysis of trace evidence.Comply with Standard Operating Procedures, Rules, Regulations, and Laboratory policies.Perform other duties as required.
