***STARTING SALARY MAY BE ADJUSTED FOR EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING*** ***FOR CURRENT STATE EMPLOYEES, ESTABLISHED SALARY RULES APPLY*** To serve as a professional staff employee of the Indiana State Police (ISP) whose primary responsibility is to support the laboratory’s responsibilities in routine forensic biology analysis with associated court presentation.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Perform administrative and support functions as necessary to maintain analytical service.Acquire and maintain analytical proficiency in forensic biology analysis.Maintain effective communication with the scientific and criminal justice communities and Department personnel.Satisfactory completion in an ISP recognized forensic biology analysis training/testing program.Upon completion of relevant training, conduct forensic analysis on routine biological samples of limited complexity and difficulty utilizing approved Unit Test Methods.Work under the direction of a higher-level forensic scientist or supervisor including review of records.Communicate analytical procedures, methodology, policies, and conclusions to various elements in the criminal justice system including court testimony as an expert witness.Participate in a proficiency testing program.Assist in preventative maintenance of laboratory instruments and safety equipment.Participate in continuing education and training programs in the analysis of biological samples.Comply with Standard Operating Procedures, Rules, Regulations, and Laboratory policies.Perform other duties as required.
