Indiana Electric Cooperatives is Hiring a Safety and Risk Management Instructor Near Indianapolis, IN

We are hiring a safety and risk management instructor to provide high quality training, safety education and programming for cooperative members. The ideal candidate will enjoy a fast-paced, energetic and varied environment where he/she is comfortable making decisions on how to reach learners. This position requires routine travel throughout Indiana and a company vehicle is provided.

Essential Functions

  • Researches, develops and creates quality safety training programs in areas including, but not limited to, the environment, employee safety, safety codes, fire codes, operator licensing and vehicle use.
  • Facilitates in-person safety training programs for employees of member cooperatives across the state.
  • Assists with training for Rural Electric Apprenticeship Program (REAP).
  • Sets expectations and evaluates student performance to grant certification and/or accreditation.
  • At the senior level, this position teaches classes at the hands-on schools; this involves teaching the curriculum and grading homework that is distributed throughout the course of the program.
  • Assists with disaster planning and storm restorations, traveling to cooperative locations to coordinate and route work crews or to work with storm crews as needed.
  • Assists IEC members with onsite accident investigations.
  • Performs Rural Electric Safety Achievement Program (RESAP) audits.
  • Develops and presents public safety programs to local law enforcement, schools and other local groups.
  • Researches, monitors and disseminates industry trends and safety information generated by OSHA, IOSHA, the EPA and other relevant agencies; attends conferences and classes to stay current in the field.

Job Requirements

  • Associate degree with emphasis in line technology, engineering technology, safety, loss control, compliance or a related field is required.
  • Five to seven years of journeyman and/or electrical lineman experience is required.
  • Certified Loss Control Professional (CLCP), Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) Certified Safety Professional (CSP), CPR/first aid instructor, OSHA 10- and 30-hour courses, NUTSEA, and QUAD state instructor courses are preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required; commercial driver’s license preferred.
