The Indiana Convention Center is currently hiring an experienced Event Manager to join the team!
This position organizes and supervises the successful implementation, operation, and completion of facility events (Conventions and Tradeshows) under the general supervision of the Event Services Director and is directly accountable to the Senior Event Manager. This position also requires the flexibility to act autonomously during their assigned events while adhering to overall department and organizational policies and procedures.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in public relations, hospitality/event management, customer service or related field; five to eight years experience in convention center or tradeshow event management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer skills:
Basic computer literacy. High proficiency in Microsoft Suite or comparable software. Working knowledge of event planning / financial software package. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present business essential information and respond to questions from various groups, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Schedule:
Full-time / 37.5 hrs/wk. Must be flexible for overtime, including evenings, weekends and holidays as required based on business needs.
Physical requirements:
Must be comfortable working in a large facility that requires extensive walking to monitor event activity. This position requires constant standing, walking, climbing stairs. Frequent oral/written communication is required. Ability to perform work in an office /cubicle environment for extended periods of time with the ability to remain seated at the computer terminal and provides timely and consistent customer feedback and interaction. Repetitive motion using keyboard, mouse and telephone required. Position can frequently be fast paced. Ability to handle and provide directive, assess situations, enter into dialogue and complete tasks.
Supervisory:
This position directly supervises Assistant Event Coordinator staff and generally directs building staff during events (ranging from 20 – 100 full-time and part-time employees). Employee must draw on available resources to accomplish end result of successful completion of assigned events. In conjunction with the Senior Event Manager, reviews work for progress toward achievement of these objectives.
