Description

The Training & Development Specialist will support the IAF Training & Development Team by positively contributing to our culture of Teamwork and continuous improvement and helping us create, monitor, and conduct training in various formats.

The Training & Development Specialist role is a new position, created to help our growing Training & Development Team build and implement the training system that will successfully sustain technical training and leadership development.

To accommodate training needs for the off-shifts, some schedule flexibility to come in early or stay later will be necessary.

We are looking for a team-player with strong organizational skills, a creative curiosity to understand situations and seek positive solutions, a willingness to learn and grow, and a drive for team success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - include the following:

  1. Research, design/create, and/or deliver training programs and materials in the form of presentations, documents, and/or videos, etc. – as part of and supporting the Training & Development Team and initiatives
    1. Onboarding materials and training
    2. Technical skill documentation/training materials, including assessments
    3. Simulation scenarios/exercises
    4. Train the Trainer
  2. Identify training needs by evaluating/assessing knowledge, skills (soft skills and technical skills), abilities, through observations, surveys, assessment tools, etc.
  3. Data entry and analysis, i.e. feedback survey results, Training & Development Key Performance Indicators (KPI) tracking, Human Resource Information System (HRIS)/Learning Management System (LMS) software, etc.
  4. Other HR support duties, including but not limited to, reviewing and creating company-wide communications, assisting with recruiting and job fairs, etc.
  5. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in training and/or teaching, human resources, or related field. 2-5 years’ related experience in training, specifically related to development and training. The equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a manufacturing environment is helpful.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals/documentation. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups. Computer programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite, are regularly used to communicate and gather information. Fluent in English. Japanese as a second language is helpful.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Desire to proactively and collaboratively work toward solutions with cross-functional team input.
