Description

Oversee all manufacturing processes, including production floor (heading, rolling, heat treatment, surface treatment), manufacturing training center and other functions as assigned, reporting to the Vice President of Operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages, coordinates, and provides leadership to and directs the work of assigned staff.
    • Providing direct reports with the skills to lead, coach, and mentor their direct reports.
  • Assure accountability and discipline within the plant to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost objectives. Enforce company rules, policies and expectations at all levels.
  • Drives day-to-day manufacturing operations to ensure compliance with goals, authorizes overtime, controls costs and delivers continuous improvements. Reviews proposed changes to work methods.
  • Manages the development and maintaining manufacturing processes and technologies to support zero defects, ensure on-time delivery, and be cost competitive.
  • Models exemplary safety behavior and commitment to quality (product, process and QMS)
  • Participates in the capital improvement plan process for reliability, growth, safety, environmental, and efficiency.
  • Maintain company standards with regard to appearance and functionality of property, plant and equipment.
  • Provides information to facilitate the coordination of overall manufacturing organization. Collects information on present and future organization needs.
  • Ensures planning systems are coordinated to exceed customer expectations.
  • Ensures on-time delivery and quality objectives are met and takes timely corrective action when below objectives.
  • Analyzes material and information flow, identifies constraints and implements appropriate action.
  • Protects our employees, assets, environment, and community.
  • Encourages and reinforces active involvement of shop floor personnel throughout the safety system processes. Applies reward & recognition systems to reinforce positive behaviors.
  • Support and manage continuous improvement processes to achieve consistent improvements in key operating metrics and ensures continuous improvement culture is established and reinforced.
  • Maintain and reinforces a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization.
    • Utilize and reinforce team approach to develop plant synergies.
    • Reinforce and model appropriate behaviors to demonstrate corporate values.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications


Education & Training

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required. Advanced technical degree or MBA preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 15 years in a business-to-business environment with a technical/engineered product and experience in the automotive industry. 10 years of proven operations leadership experience and managing large organizations.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders in the operations system – Planning, Logistics, Sales, Quality, HR, IT, Engineering, Maintenance, Accounting – to deliver business needs and meet business objectives.
  • Ability to organize, manage, and control a variety of technical and manufacturing operations including industrial engineering, machining, production planning, scheduling, and Continuous Improvement
  • Experience in material flow and lean manufacturing concepts required.
  • A track record of operational excellence and achieving profit targets within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive experience with large captive customers where relationship management and customer service is critical.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills with an ability to handle a multitude of projects independently required.
  • An understanding of the financial aspects of product and facility profitability required.
  • Excellent people and communications skills. Able to lead large collaboration efforts and teams.
  • Experienced in all aspects of TPS/lean manufacturing principles and practices. Possesses lean mindset, proven lean practitioner and leadership capability.
